Was so excited to try this place as I love Mexican food and tacos so I booked a table for Sunday afternoon, not realising they only do a brunch menu on Sundays only to be so disapointed by the lack of tacos and Mexican flavours on the brunch menu! Honestly wish I'd taken a photo of the menu because I was so confused by that menu compared to their normal menu. Many people were coming in and leaving as soon as staff said they were only serving the small brunch menu, which only had one type of tacos on the menu which were breakfast tacos (from memory I think these were egg and bacon). Seems so silly to not have their normal tacos or at least more traditional Mexican flavour tacos on the Sunday menu at a place called Death by tacos... My dad had the English breakfast which he said was nice enough, can't go too wrong there. I had a rhubarb cocktail which was great, and they have a good selection of beers on tap. Me and my mum both ordered something which we thought sounded like it would have the most Mexican flavours but turned out to be a plate stacked with a huge amount of fried tortilla chips, a small amount of sliced onions, some crumbled feta and a fried egg on top. No salsa or guac came with it we had to order it arrived. I'm not sure if we read the description wrong but I really expected more. They need some serious work on there brunch menu, honestly just dump it and serve the normal menu all week? No idea why they felt the need to serve anything but a taco centric menu.

I embarked on a daring journey from the distant and mysterious lands of Newton-le-Willows, where the winds whisper secrets of forgotten takeaway orders and the aroma of chippy teas lingers in the air. My destination? None other than the legendary Death by Tacos, a realm where flavor and fire collide in an epic battle for tastebud supremacy. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a vibrant haven of spice and zest. The tacos? Exquisite. Each bite was an explosion of flavor, as if the gods of guacamole and salsa had blessed these creations with their divine touch. From the smoky barbacoa to the zesty carnitas, every mouthful was a tantalizing step deeper into taco nirvana. 🌮✨ However, not all who travel these lands are ready for the adventure. My companion, Glynn, bless his innocent soul, is clearly not an experienced adventurer like myself. While I faced the fiery salsa head-on, Glynn quivered at the mere sight of a jalapeño, his spirit broken by the heat. As I savored the burn with the grace of a seasoned warrior, Glynn could be seen frantically gulping his drink, desperately seeking relief from the merciless inferno. If you’re a brave soul ready to test your mettle and embark on a quest for legendary tacos, Death by Tacos is your calling. But beware — this realm is not for the faint of heart. As for Glynn… he may need to stick to the land of mild salsa and sour cream. 🌶️ 10/10 – Would brave the taco gauntlet again.

If you’re in Chester and craving some seriously tasty tacos, Death By Tacos is the place to be. From the moment we walked in, the buzzing atmosphere made it clear this was no ordinary taco joint. The staff were friendly and quick to take our orders, giving us a warm welcome and excellent service throughout the meal. We tried a variety of dishes, including the beef birria tacos, chicken tacos. nachos, and chicharron—and every single one was outstanding. The birria tacos were a standout, packed with flavor and the perfect balance of tender meat and delicious broth for dipping. The chicken tacos were equally impressive, with juicy, well-seasoned meat wrapped in soft tortillas. The nachos were loaded with cheese, guacamole, and all the right toppings, while the chicharrón was flavourful, could have been a little more crispy. Never the less it was still delicious—definitely a must-try for anyone who loves a good snack. The vibe was great, with rock music playing loudly in the background. While rock isn't my personal genre, it totally fit the energetic, lively atmosphere of the place, and I could see how it added to the overall experience for many. Overall, Death By Tacos is a must-visit for taco lovers or anyone looking for great food in a fun, upbeat setting. The combination of delicious food, great service, and vibrant atmosphere makes it well worth checking out!

Hidden away in the back of the market to unsuspecting hungry stomachs I happened across what I thought was a gem.

The staff seemed friendly enough. I ordered the most expensive taco which in my opinion turned out to be far too expensive for the amount and quality. The shredded beef was cold and somewhat tasteless, as for the hot sauce, one can only assume the possibility of me being of non caucasian descent having a high threshold to chillies, but to me this was not hot at all, at least not hot enough to die from ^^. It seems I was led into the establishment by the intriguing name under the assumption that i was going to get spicy food? Silly me. The presentation was to my surprise was actually well done. As mentioned the amount you get for the price you pay is a let down, although if the quality was better that could be overlooked. Subsequently I had to visit a well known food outlet shortly after as at least you know what to expect in a big mac (value for money). Isn't that what we all would like to see from a food outlet?

Update. DBT contacted me and , and after re reading my comments, i am giving DBT 4 stars as realistically i cannot really comment on the other dishes that I did not try, and my comments were a little unnecessarily harsh. Although, I will say, most people will only go to a food outlet once if the first time was not a good experience, so as a suggestion put some taste in...
