Read this before you go to kuckoo in Chester..
Let me tell you this. After several years of "experiencing a fair few bottomless brunches" around Chester and surrounding areas, I've now finally found the best bottomless brunch in the north-west. Whether it's a hen do, a first date to break the ice or a fun afternoon out with friends. Kuckoos bottomless brunch is the one.
From arrival, we were welcomed with the intention for fun and a good time. The friendly, energetic and passionate staff were very welcoming from when we walked in. The atmosphere was incredible. So good in fact when I nipped outsides for a phone call, when I came back in it looked like something off a movie.
The afternoon was something like this: 1- We were welcomed with a drink and some shots from the highly skilled bartenders who couldn't do enough for us (I'd highly recommend booking a bar seat if you can based on availability as that was an experience in itself). 2- We then had the continuous option to choose from a variety of great pizzas from the highly rated American pizza slice which was absolute quality and they were constantly bringing pizzas round for everone. Works perfect. And 3- they did bingo but not the normal one... rock n roll bingo. It worked perfectly with the amount of people there and they ensured no one else came in the bar whilst everyone was having fun to make sure the experience was to the fullest for the people there. The team behind the bar had everyone watching when they played with the flames and the girl on the day smashed it. She and the bar had everyone on the edge of their seats singing. Engaging but non intrusive. Love it.
To sum my afternoon at kuckoo all I can say is this Exciting, hospitable and brilliant value for money. They don't "water down" cocktails, they give you great pizza (music on par) and most importantly, an amazing time....
Read moreThis review is to report the savagely sexist and overall aggressive behavior of one security guard on Friday night.
To keep the story as brief as possible: at closing time, it was taking me some more time than the rest to get ready, because I had a lot of layers of clothes, as it was freezing outside. The bouncer got very irritated with me and started shouting sexist stuff to me, such as that he doesn’t have to sit and wait for me “to put on my underwear”. I will not go into the detail of everything he said (it’s neither necessary to understand the situation nor is it pleasant to remember), only that he refused to apologise even after it was clear how upset he'd made me and the whole group of friends I was with. Merely, 2 or 3 times, he pretended to show me his work card with his details, in case I wanted to report the incident, but only held it up for a second each time and then put it back in his pocket.
It was a real shock to see such behaviours being tolerated by this bar; until that point, we had all loved the place and everyone’s experience with the rest of the staff was great. Sadly, of course, after such an incident, all the good memories of the bar have been...
Read moreWe’ve visited kuckoo a couple times in the past and it’s been great, so after races last weekend we decided to pop in again. Unfortunately, the first bar lady that served us as we entered the building was extremely disappointing. It took a long time for our drinks to be made and when we received them they were practically in drinkable. We ordered an old fashioned and a zombie cocktail which both tasted very poor, especially for 20+ pounds. We moved our way down the bar to man I recognised from previous visits as Oscar, we explained the problem and he apologised and offered to remake both our drinks free of charge. The service was much faster, and the drinks were a million times better. My old fashion in particular was exceptional. Night and day service. The music and atmosphere in kuckoo is always unbeatable, with the fire creating a great sceptical and making the night memorable. Big thank you again to Oscar, and also the doorman who was very friendly as we exited, recommending other places to visit. We hope to be back...
