It's popular because it's one of the few proper brunch places in Chester. It's OK but if you've had good brunches elsewhere then don't expect anything special here. Food is fine, staff are pleasant but service is slow and once you've struggled to get anyone's attention to order, you'll have to do it again if you want anything else (like the bill) because they won't come back to check on you. I come here once every few years to see if it's improved but I've always been underwhelmed so far.
There's almost always a queue outside at weekends but staff can't seem to get their heads around this fact. On this visit, we had an awkward situation when we were in the queue because the waitress couldn't seem to communicate to us that there was another group waiting, or see that a table had opened up, or ask if any of us wanted to sit on the free tables outside - we had to sort it between ourselves in the end because she just couldn't handle seating 3 groups of customers on 3 empty tables. 20 mins later, another waitress nearly started an argument between two customers who were both trying to let the other go first because, again, she couldn't communicate about which tables were free. There have been queues outside this place for as long as I can remember, it might be about time the staff got over the shock and learnt to deal with...
Read moreThis is the most amazing hidden gem of a cup, amongst the madness of a tea party that is Chester! From the outside, it's a steamed up window and white paint....inside, it's where it comes alive, with plants surrounding all the tables, from the ceilings and really giving a homely, quaint but overall lovely feeling whilst having your food/drink.
We came here for my birthday meal and initially, we didn't mean to walk so far down the rows, but I'm so glad we did because the food here was incredible! I had the breakfast wrap which was on the savoury specials and the waitress advised they do change but the sweet specials change more frequently. My partner had the biscoff french toast, and it's as good as the picture looks, actually, better, I even had some. We had an ice tea and a coffee to accompany, but the food is something to certainly shout about.
This place was lovely and quiet, but honestly, its got better breakfast/brunch food than alot of the places I've eaten, and sooo much better than the chains like Costa and Starbucks, also better priced and more for your money too!!
I'd say it's only downside would be the lack of advertisement, I had no clue it was there, and typing on Google cafes/restaurants it didn't come up.
I Highly recommend and you WILL NOT regret coming here.
We will be back, for...

I went on the weekend, there was a queue outside which made me believe it was a popular place. Three couples in front of me in the queue and four empty table inside however suggested the popularity may have been false. The staff didn't even apologise for the wait, they continued to dither around.
Once sat we eventually ordered our food and drink, beans on toast & a fry with two orange juices. The drinks alone took 20+ minutes to be served, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy and the juice was from a carton, it could have been served in under a minute - but again staff continued to mooch around.
After 40+ minutes of waiting for food, I enquired as to the whereabouts of my order, following investigation I was informed "we forgot to process your order, we are sorry and you will be next in the queue"
To there credit, they gave us the food for free but it feels a shame to such a lovely little business that the incompetence of staff is having such an impact. Looking round at other tables you could tell they also found it humorous how long it took the staff to do anything.
Chester has many lovely cafes and I will be exploring those instead of returning to...
