Absolutely Dreadful Experience at "Freshers" in Ambleside.
My recent visit to a supposed quality establishment called "Freshers" was nothing short of a complete and utter disappointment. In fact, it was so unpleasant that I feel compelled to warn others to steer well clear. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming, but nothing could have prepared us for the truly atrocious service we received. The staff were not just unhelpful; they were actively rude and deeply patronising. When we attempted to make a simple request regarding our order, we were met with eye-rolls and condescending remarks. On no fewer than three separate occasions, a male member of staff came over, and each interaction was more patronising than the last. Instead of simply accommodating a minor alteration, he lectured us in a dismissive tone about how we "should" be approaching the menu. It was frankly insulting and made us feel incredibly uncomfortable. To add insult to injury, the prices at "Freshers" are extortionate. You would expect a service that at least bordered on polite. Sadly, this was not the case. We felt utterly ripped off, paying premium prices for a truly substandard experience. And then there was the coffee. One would hope that their core offering would be palatable. Unfortunately, the coffee was distasteful – bitter, weak, and frankly, quite unpleasant to drink. It was a far cry from the rich, aromatic brew one expects from a decent cafe. In conclusion, my experience at "Freshers" in Ambleside was overwhelmingly negative. The combination of offensively rude and patronising staff, ridiculously inflated prices, and a truly awful cup of coffee makes this establishment one to avoid at all costs. Save your money and your patience, and find one of the many other, hopefully more hospitable, cafes in Ambleside. "Freshers" clearly has a lot to learn about customer service and basic...
Read moreThis is my first time visiting Ambleside. We had just gotten a cruise on the lake, and my two friends and I were very hungry.
My friend found this place when we were booking activities. As soon as you step in, everyone says hi to you, you get shown to a table. Extra tables added if needed.
The staff of the cafe are all friendly and helpful with great customer service. With full table service. They do offer takeout also.
The atmosphere of the place was warm and welcoming. With homemade decorations.
You get told about the menue, the soup and the quich. They show a lot of pride in their food. Which shows in the quality. The qauility is oustanding! They could probably get away with charging 5x more than what they already charge. It is amazingly cheap for the quality of the food, which is very surprising.
I decided to go with the breakfast full english quich, with side salad and beans. Im not a massive fan of colslaw, but this colslaw was so fresh that I actually found myself enjoying it. The quich itself, It looked amazing when the gentleman brought it to the table to show us. I was enticed and so glad I chose to go with the Quich! It was full of flavour that complented each other well whilst keeping that traditional quich taste.
My friends enjoyed their food also.
Selection of drinks was fair and again at a good price. I brought a vanilla milkshake with cream, and it was amazing! Full of flavour and fresh.
They have a wide selection of different cakes, which are all homemade. The taste of the coffee cake was sublime. When we made the cake order, they came out and sung happy birthday without being planned to my friend cause it was his birthday.
Definitely would come again,...
Read moreWow... what a gem we found after a round of crazy golf that is a 1 minute walk away. Family owned cafe by mother and son with fantastic and enthusiastic waiting staff. Car park around the back. A tight knit operation driven by passion to make great food and provide excellent service. Awesome. Walkers and cyclists, families were seated. Finding a table took 5 minutes as they were busy and covid restrictions were in place. Indoors was not available at the time. The food was mouth watering - the quiches were fantastic, I mean absolutely fantastic - all made in-house by mum - coffee superbly made, and the cakes - yum. The bacon and sausage bun was polished off by our son and when we discovered we’d forgotten to remind the waiter we didn’t want butter on the bun they changed without hesitation. UGo there hungry. I noticed a very positive and polite elderly gentleman who was serving and he deserves special mention because his demeanour and service made us feel very welcome and special - as did all of the staff. A real gem of a place - highly recommended. Save a slice of quiche for me :0) we will be...
