Orchard Café — Restaurant in England

I have given a one star review because zero stars isn’t an option. This is the worst food establishment I have ever visited! I had intended on ordering the highly advertised ‘all day’ breakfast, only to be told that it wasn’t available ‘all day’, funny really as the menu says otherwise. Never mind I am adaptable if nothing else and I ordered another ‘special’… mince pie with chips and veg. I know what you are thinking…. Sounds good. Well sounding good is where it stopped. I don’t know what the pastry in the pie was, maybe plastic at my best guess, truly awful. I’m not sure how they managed to get mince and gravy wrong either, I say gravy it was more like brown water. Well at least the veg will save the meal… just peas actually and even they weren’t cooked properly. I cannot stress enough how bad this place is. Can't comment on the food because we didn't get any!

Visited just after lunch, around 2pm, but found there was nothing left! No sandwiches because there was nothing to put in them, no food in the trays other than some well stewed tomatoes, which the place stank of and 3 members of staff who didn't seem to know what day it was, let alone how to run a cafe. A guy collecting plates, another wandering around an empty kitchen looking at the queue forming and one guy serving, who also seemed to be serving what food there was as well as packing dishes away, all the while saying "be with you in a minute"

Nearly 10 minutes we waited, only to be told they had no food and he then ignored us to ask the people behind what they wanted, then told them the saem!

Called for a dinner with my wife on Friday 30th of September 2020 and was greeted pretty abruptly by an older lady of staff who was serving food who demanded we fill in the form with our name and phone number for covid rules which is fine, however it doesn't set a very good tone especially on your first visit, secondly the food wasn't that great as the mash potatoes were very dry and there were only a tiny portion of peas and carrots on the plate due to the size of the plate which was quite small, I will say the steak and mushroom pie was good though, overall just average, a mention for the young man who was cleaning up after everyone was very polite and thanked us for our visit, maybe some older members of staff could benefit from his...
