This restaurant had been recommended to me, so I decided to give it a try on a day trip to Chester. It's located right in the historic centre, on pedestrianised Bridge Street. Plenty of outside tables. It was very busy when I arrived, but the waiter managed to find me a table near the window. The restaurant itself is small and cosy, with exposed brick walls, embellished with colourful decorations and little fairy lights. Thai music was playing in the background. Popular with Thai families and also young international travellers, all contributing to this place's happy and vibrant atmosphere. Dog friendly too. The staff were welcoming, polite and attentive. There was an extensive drinks menu that included Thai beer and a wide selection of wines, but I wanted a soft drink so I tried a Thai iced tea with milk. Really refreshing, sweet and delicious - I loved it! Spoilt for choice with the food too - a great variety of authentic Thai dishes on the menu. I chose from the set lunch menu; you get one small plate and one main for £16.50, usually served together, but mine came separately. Ordered the maing moo grob (crispy pork belly with lettuce, peanuts and tamarind sauce), and the geang panang, a creamy red curry served with steamed rice (I chose to have chicken in my curry). The pork belly was tender and flavourful, and the curry was aromatic but not too spicy. The meal was reasonably priced, but did include an optional service charge. I enjoyed both the tasty food and the ambience of this friendly little café, and would certainly come here again.

First time visiting Thai Baan Street Food whilst out having a day trip around Chester and very impressed with the food at this place.!! 👌 Only came this place by chance after Google ing Asian food places whilst out exploring the city an would deffently Bob back when back in town. The service was prompt and the staff are rely freinldy an helpful, the menu was vast!! Certainly a wide selection if dishes to choose from an for someone who would like to think had eaten an exsplored quite a lot of Asian food in the past, found quite a few dishes that I hadn't come across before.!! We had tbe Thai prawn checkers to start, and they rely don't skim on their portion size. Was presented with a massive bowl! With three rely lovely dips compliment. We the had for our mains the traditional pad Thai with chrispy chicken this was rely orthenic, sweet an savoury, an also treud the ba mee moo dang nou gow - not tried this before but would certainly have again.🍜 We did try the Salt & Peper tofo, but being honenst wasn't a fan. This was a bit over greasy ( didn't realise it was deep fried, tufo deep fried don't work for use, just soaks up grease like spounge ) - But would say the batter was very light and crispy. Would certainly give this place another try if was aback in Chester again. A would recommend to family and friends. Deffenlty worth the visit if you fancy a thai food fix.. 😋

I recently visited Thai Baan in Chester and had the special set lunch, priced at £14.95 per person for a small plate and main, which was excellent value for money. The meal began a delightful Yum Tao Hoo – a refreshing tofu salad with a perfect balance of spice, sourness, and sweetness, and a Khai Look Khoey - crispy eggs in a sweet, tangy chilli sauce - that was equally enjoyable, with a rich, comforting flavour. For mains, my friend opted for the Chicken Pad Thai, which was well-executed with perfectly stir-fried noodles and a nice balance of flavours. I went for the Pad Mee Thai Baan with tofu, which was a standout. The tofu was crispy on the outside yet soft inside, and the noodles were seasoned beautifully, with just the right amount of sauce and spice. We paired the meal with a pot of Jasmine Tea, which was fragrant and soothing, offering a lovely contrast to the rich flavours of the food. Overall, Thai Baan offered an authentic and satisfying dining experience. The food was fresh, flavourful, and presented beautifully. It’s definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re looking for high-quality Thai cuisine in Chester.

An Unforgettable Experience at Thai Baan, Chester

From the moment we stepped into Thai Baan, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between authentic charm and warm hospitality — a true escape into the heart of Thailand right here in Chester.

Every dish we tried was a masterpiece. The flavors were vibrant, fresh, and perfectly balanced, showing a real dedication to quality and authenticity. You could taste the care and passion in every bite. From the starters to the mains, every plate that came out of the kitchen was a work of art — beautifully presented and even more beautiful to eat.

The service was equally outstanding. Friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had an amazing experience. It’s rare to find a place where you feel so welcomed and looked after.

Thai Baan isn’t just a restaurant — it’s an experience. If you’re looking for unforgettable food, incredible service, and an atmosphere that transports you straight to Thailand, you’ll find it here. A true hidden gem in Chester that we will absolutely be returning to.

Five stars,...
