The Carlton Tavern — Restaurant in England

I visited visited the Carlton for the 1st time last night. It was their open mike night and it was amazing.There was one singer guitarist there who was particularly amazing. He did a rendition of the Temptation's 'Papa was a Rolling Stone', one of my favourite all time songs. I cant remember ever having heard it being done so well. Quiet little place with friendly staff. We only went along to see the live band playing otherwise we would not have visited. Loss of a star purely on the basis that if youre not a local you will spend the evening being that wierd quite couple at the back of the bar and the toilets need a bit of an update. Had a fantastic roast dinner delivered, large portions,real home cooked food,delivered piping hot by nicest driver. Spoke to lovely landlady to order who went above and beyond. I ordered extra roast potatoes and Cauliflower cheese,even these where massive portions all cooked so nicely. And the cheesecake we had was to die for,homemade lotus with strawberries on side.
