The Handbridge — Restaurant in England

This was our second visit, the first before the refurbishment the food was fantastic, everything was freshly cooked the parsnip peelings were fried and added to the meal, superb, beef was very good. Really enjoyed it. Second visit refurbishment superb looks lovely the food however was not so good this time it was ok, but the price had gone up, I suppose to be expected, the beef was still very nice but the veg was undercooked more or less raw broccoli, carrots were not big and chunky but small round over cooked and I am pretty sure they were frozen, kale/cabbage very nice fresh, gravy like bisto.... not a parsnip tone seen. Stuffing balls were rock hard.A bit of a disappointment for £12.95. Love the pub and how it’s done out just disappointed at the food, standards...

What a great find. The Handbridge has recently been taken over by a very charning operator who originates from Southern Brazil. Of course with that comes great food and atmosphere that gives a sense of really being alive. All of the staff were welcoming and chatty and fun to talk to. Very reasonably priced food prepared from scratch which was authentic and delicious. We had a selection of Patatas Bravas, Gambas ( Marinated King Prawns), Cinxhinos ( Chicken Tearprop Parcels) and Fish Stew everyrhing was excellent. We recently had our kids Christened at St Mary's church and organised a do at The Handbridge straight afterwards. I couldn't recommend them enough. Sam, the manager, was fantastic to deal with on the day and prior. The buffet food (hot & cold) was great, everyone loved it and it was reasonably priced. The service was attentive and they gave us a large area inside as well as the entire outside area where I booked a bouncy castle for the kids.
