We'd walked a long time and miss many kitchens closing due to not having a plan, being prepared and although I have a degree and my partner it a dr we sometimes make the most basic of mistakes. But their kitchen is open until 9.30pm and it actually is the. Bartenders were lovely and helpful and brought us rice we forgot to order in a second. I like it when someone is complementary and takes control when you have exited your brain through hunger and dimwittedness. I have had the take away food many times and it's lovely to eat in a building that is filled with painting I need to finish. My friend friend family run the kitchen and as well as making lovely food I've seen them play music a few times. I'd recommend you look them up. Do a great song about a lotus birth. They have lucky Saint on draft if you want to not drink alcohol but pretend you are so you have a excuse to not remember what you boring friends are saying to you, not saying your friends or mine are boring or me for that matter but just saying. Side note why is it called the cow and where is she do they just wheel her out at Christmas or when when their local MP needs milk or what. Top marks and I recommend get loads of little places of food and not sharing them...
Read moreFood was good*, the woman serving upstairs was great, but the service from the kitchen was... bizarre and frustrating.
So after something of a wait (we were warned about that, so fine) the food came and what I got was not what I ordered. I don't know why the mixup, but these things happen, so yeah, whatever.
It was then it got weird. As we'd been waiting, even though it wasn't what I ordered, I was hungry and said I'd be fine eating what came. The server said she had to check, and took it away. I guess if it has been made for someone else, that makes sense, but it turns out, it wasn't for anyone else, so I said I'd eat it then. But she refused, telling me she'd bring what I ordered and I'd have to wait another 10mins for my meal.
There was food there, it wasn't for anyone else, I said I'm happy to eat it, and they said no ("that's not our policy"), took it away, presumably binned it, made me sit and wait for 10mins, hungry, while my family were eating before bringing me my food. Really annoying. Not just the wait, but I hate food waste. Overall what had otherwise been a pretty pleasant evening turned into something that really...
Read moreWhat an outstanding Sunday Roast! We've been to The Cow a few times since we moved close to Seven Dials but for some reason we've never tried their Sunday Roast. Today we walked in without a reservation just with the intention of having some drinks and something to nibble, but then, we were reminded by the lovely waitress at the bar that their Sunday Roast was available! So, we decided to give it a go! And blimey!... it was definitely the best Sunday Roast we have tried in Brighton so far! Everything about it was done right! The potatoes were nicely roasted, the veggies cooked to perfection (most pubs tend to overcook the veggies to the point in which the become soggy and tasteless), the meat was quite juicy and tender, and all other elements of in the plate were great! The horseradish sauce was a delicious! We thought about having some desserts (which seemed very tempting) but we didn't at the end since we were already quite full from the Roast! Perhaps next time! Anyway, congrats to the chef and cooks and thank you for such a wonderful Sunday Roast! We'll be back whenever...
