Popped in on Saturday night due to a change in times on a show. Needed a quick meal and fancied supporting an independent. So this is a small seemingly family run Burrito bar. I can liken the way you choose your burritos fillings to Subway - not a bad way of serving as you get to choose what you have inside. Service was quick the food was warm and the Burrito was filled substantially. The young lady serving behind the counter knew her food well and explained the hotness of the salsas perfectly, she was spot on.
I was going to try some of the street food, but that had a 30 minute waiting time and i didn't have that much time unfortunately, i will go back and try them though.
The service was spot on, the lady was very friendly and cheerful and was a pleasure to be served by her. The decor is simple and trying to portray a mexican feel with ambient music in the background, which i really liked. Then i found it was J LO ... cant believe i like a J LO song.
One change i would like to see is maybe a choice on the rice. I dont know how Mexican rice that has peppers and beans mixed in with it is, but i think that would be a nice addition. Otherwise a great little independent open in a time when it must be hard and very brave to do so. Go support these people, i will...
Read moreWarning: This place is dangerously delicious!!! So my boyfriend and I were just wandering around, hunting for some Mexican food, when this little gem practically jumped out at us. We walked in with empty stomachs and left with full hearts… and still somehow craving more? The owners? Absolute sweethearts. A lovely couple who made us feel like we just walked into their home kitchen. We ended up having a proper chat with them. Legends! Day one: we tried a quesadilla and a burrito. And let me tell you — they did not disappoint. We couldn’t stop thinking about it. Like actual food hauntings. So obviously, we returned the very next day like the shameless addicts we are. Day two: loaded fries, tacos, churros… basically a full-blown Mexican feast. Every bite was delicious. I’m not being dramatic — it’s quite possibly the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. The kind that makes you low-key emotional. Honestly, the only thing they’re missing is a warning sign that says: "Caution: Our food is highly addictive. Side effects may include spontaneous happy dances and plotting your next visit while still chewing." Prices? So good it felt like we were doing something slightly illegal. Atmosphere? Cozy, fun, full of love. We’re hooked. Someone take our wallets away before...
Read moreI don't often leave reviews for food establishments unless I have an overwhelmingly positive experience, so here it goes.
I decided on visiting Viva el Burrito after sizing up other options in the area whilst visiting my wife at the nearby hospital. I felt in the mood for something home cooked (my wife loves to cook mexican dishes with a passion!) I was greeted with such warmth and generosity of spirit, I was actually taken aback. Not knowing what / how to order was not a problem as the lovely woman guided me through the options with great patience. I had a smaller burrito, very satisfying and lovingly assembled (not charged extra for guacamole, looking at you Tortilla!) Also ordered a half portion of loaded chips arriving (as intended) after I had finished my burrito. The "half portion" was big enough to feed me by itself, also garnished with guacamole and the works. Time to leave, had a lovely exchange with the lady owner and left feeling as if I had visited a family member and with a very full, deliriously happy tummy. Upon reflection, I feel they have this effect on most customers, because as I was eating, people were stopping and greeting from the street and the regulars were all treated on first name basis.
Highly...
