Situated in an old church and a must-try bar on a night out in Chester. During the day, they only opened up a small bar at the front. At night, however, the main part of the venue is open. It has a fantastic vibe and atmosphere. The way they operate access to the main area, however, is extremely frustrating and unfair. I queued for 20+ minutes outside (and it was cold!) before being ushered into the front "holding area" bar. This was relatively empty (making the queuing in the street pointless). Getting access to the main area is pot-luck!! You're only allowed access when there's a free table.....and it's totally random who they decide to let in. Many people arrived after me and were ushered in before...including same-size parties! They appeared to favour young female parties rather than having a fair system. Once inside, they operate table service only, and the staff are very active and efficient...and at no extra cost to the front bar, which is great. What it lacks, however, is a dedicated dance area. You end up being extremely restricted by having to dance at your table.
Despite the frustrations highlighted above, I would definitely recommend that everyone give this place a visit. It does offer a totally different and unique experience to any other bar around. If they addressed some of the points mentioned, however, it...
Read moreMyself and my husband held our wedding party at The Guild over Christmas. We got married in Chester Town Hall then moved on to The Guild for a big party with all our friends and family. From the very first time we got in contact with Chiara and Stef they were so helpful and attentive. They made our planning super easy and helped us find suppliers for food and decorations. We used a pasta food van feast bros for our evening meal which was delicious and entertainment12 for our decorations who know the venue well. Our party was so much fun, the venue was so beautiful. Everything ran smoothly from the beginning of our planning to the end of the night at our wedding party. We are so grateful we chose this beautiful venue. We could have asked for more for our wedding celebration. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff at The Guild for making our...
Read moreI’d give this place zero stars if I could, me and my friends went there to start off the night SOBER at 8.30pm and one of the bouncers hardly looked at her and said she’s not coming in because she’s too drunk - this was clearly because they heard her voice and thought she was slurring but she has a hearing aid and refused to believe this was the reason she may have sounded different to her other friends. We explained this and said if we told them that 2 minutes earlier it would’ve have changed their minds as if she suddenly got the hearing aid within those 2 minutes. Went to Havana after this and they were so lovely and knew she wasn’t drunk. The manager Ash was not understanding at all but the manager of the bouncers was very...
