A lot about the walrus is right , the location is good , the ambience is good and the staff we came across were helpful and efficient , there it a good wine list and the craft beers are nice , The jazz band we had playing during our Sunday lunch was excellent , what let the place down was the food , the beef was very tuff and chewy and looking around at other tables people appeared to have problems cutting , my friend had chicken with one piece being undercooked and red , the roast potatoes also had an odd taste as if they had been cooked then microwaved , our dessert was cheese and biscuits which was right from the fridge no way to serve soft cheese , so guys at the Walrus if you see my comments , you have a great venue great staff but you do need to improve with the food ,a start maybe to change your butcher and advise the chef how to serve cheese with fresh grapes not soft inedible ones like the ones given to us and most place do not charge extra for stuffing and on...

Heard good things about this place so me and my boyfriend decided we would to out for a few drinks there. Knowing it would be busy my boyfriend rang ahead to check availability and we were told there was seats available. When we arrived approx 5 min later a man came out and slammed the door shut and said that we could only be accommodated outside and around the corner. We explained we rang ahead but we're reassured there were no spaces in the bar. Literally walked up the road and saw him let in 3 women????? My partner then decided to ring again to check whether there was any space (following the 3 ladies being let in) and we're told on the phone AGAIN that there were spaces!!!!! Was there something wrong with us that you couldn't accommodate 2 people? Is it the fact we are an interracial couple??! Left me feeling really uncomfortable.

Walked in and tried to have a bit of friendly banter - server said we have to sit down because it’s seated service only. Tried to find a couple spots which felt more lively. We asked for advise where to go and they replied “anywhere but here”. To which the other bar maid said we’re refusing you service and will have to go somewhere else and we had to leave. I was not being obnoxious and was simply just in Brighton for a day or two trying to find new spots. The whole situation unfolded within less than 5 minutes off arrival because I couldn’t make my mind up where to sit.

Bartenders if you’re reading this, I’m 29 and I’ve never experienced service like that in my life. Genuinely so bad that I’ve wrote a review. And I very much rarely write them.
