The Swan — Restaurant in High Peak

After visiting here last year, we decided to visit again whilst staying in buxton. Got to say this time around we were left feeling a bit disappointed on our visit. Last year we felt welcomed and the atmosphere was good we ended up visiting both nights and staying till late. Tonight we visited, we was greeted by a man behind the bar who looked like he didn't want to be there, asked if we could book a table for the football for the night after, got told no and if we turned up then we would be turned away. The atmosphere wasn't the same as it was last year. Sadly we only had 1 drink and then left. I realise that this weekend may be busy but for a member of staff to be so abrupt and rude was just wrong. I visited this pub with a couple of friends for a quick drink on Saturday and the bartender informed me that it was only their second day in management and that they'd not yet organised serving hot drinks. She then offered to make me a cup of tea from the kettle in the kitchen and then saud she wouldn't charge me. It came out in mi uses and was lovely. Visited Buxton for the new year and visited The Swan new years eve. Not disappointed at all. Great locals and bar staff we're fantastic. Thatchers went down very well with myself and my son. The band we're great and very entertaining, sorry but can't remember their name. Please add if anyone knows so they get a mention as a thank you.
