I think I first went for a pint here in the early seventies. That's over 50 years ago, and in all that time it's not changed one iota. I'm glad it's not changed, you need to preserve some pubs so you can remember what pubs used to be like in the good old days. I assume most of the regulars wouldn't like it to change either. One thing that always reminds me of this pub is the pork pies, they've been selling them for many years now. There's not many pubs where you can still get a nice pie and a pint. They've always got a good selection of Real ales on offer.

The Lion Tavern is probably my favourite pub in the city. Its got everything you could ask for in a local. Great selections of beers and ales changed regularly. Knowledgeable and friendly staff who are happy to help with any enquiries. Fresh pork pies available along with a plethora of other bar snacks. Seating available in the two snugs or propped up around the bar itself. It's also got a free jukebox with a selection of classic hits. Can't recommend it enough.

Last time I tried to visit here it was too crowded and I knew I had to return to see why itโ€™s so popular. Fantastic city centre pub that has kept the real pub feeling alive with a great selection of cask ales and lots of original woodwork and ornate glass. Sat in a very comfortable back room with a nice music mix playing and enjoyed the ambience over a couple of real beers . Definitely on my city centre list now and looking forward to the next visit.

Just had the worst service I've ever had in my life in ANY establishment ,I walked in and there were about 10 people sat down . No-one waiting at the bar . . . The guy behind the bar was texting on his phonewith his back to the bar so I politely said "excuse me " with no response so I said the same again . . . With no response .somebody sat down behind me must have clicked their fingers (something I would NEVER do) and the guy who was getting paid to ignore his customers bit my head off .! An absolute disgrace and I hope the owners get this message and act accordingly ,because I had to calmly explain why I changed my mind about the custom . . Instead of doing what I really...

Terrible Service, Rude Staff We visited this pub looking for a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and left completely disappointed. The staff were incredibly rude and seemed to have no interest in providing even basic customer service. From the moment we walked in, we felt like an inconvenience. The person behind the bar was abrupt, unfriendly, and acted as if our questions were a nuisance. It's a shame because the pub itself has a nice look and a good location, but the unfriendly attitude of the staff completely ruined our experience. We won't be returning and would advise others to look elsewhere if they want a pub with a decent atmosphere and staff who actually seem to...

Vist great until we decided we wantd another drink. Went up to the bar to find no staff. Then saw a pint being pulled so went up to ask for a drink . Then told they had closed, and the drink was a staff drink. When we ask why they had not called last orders or rung a bell we were told we don't do that sort of thing here. I thought great, must remebmber to come back. I thought pubs opened to sell beer not server the staff. Decor fantastic, beer good but not cheap. I did not eat there but I must have an opinion, ignore food comment. How basic is this...
