Good value for money lunch, very friendly staff, very interesting historical Liverpool pub. Still excellent. Tu Back again- we had salt and pepper chicken, chicken burger(more like a generous fillet) , the mega burgers and puds for afters. Everything freshly cooked and delicious. Good value for money for such good food. We had a choice of places to go but grandad and the grandchlidren insisted on visiting again. This pub is so good for everyone whether in working overalls or suits, dresses or jeans, teeshirts or silk blouses! TU for such a warm welcome! The non - scousers among us just can't stop talking about this lovely pub. Ta! Xxxxxx 2024- still vg. Staff are so lovely - a credit to the friendly Liverpool cultural scene, great food, lovely atmosphere . A real pleasure to visit this pub and the whole family look forward to coming here again and again. A special experience - TU .

The Railway didn't live up to the great reviews for us, but we probably visited at the wrong time. Value for money was excellent; I couldn't fault the prices, but by dinner time on a Monday, they'd run out of a lot of the menu, which was fine. Went for my third choice which was salt and pepper chips, and it was just okay. It didn't really have a whole lot of flavour without being drowned in the sweet chilli sauce. Service was fine; it was really quick, but not particularly warm or hospitable. The staff seemed like they didn't really want to be there, to be honest. I understand Mondays might be slow, but we felt quite let down by this place after reading such good reviews. I wouldn't go here again outside of a weekend.

We are visiting from down south, and this, one of the oldest pubs in Liverpool, totally exceeded our expectations. The staff are friendly and focused on getting the experience right. Rosein recommended food based on our preferences and even made me try some of their nice range of wines. The price is spot on, and the food is absolutely brilliant. The kitchen staff have diverse knowledge of ingredient pairing, and both the fish and chips and the calamari we tried were a hit. We were so torn between doing a repeat order of these two, and the calamari won the bet. Such fresh produce and nicely woven flavours were the highlight, closely followed by the unassuming service. We are already so looking forward to coming back!
