I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at The Oracle that I feel compelled to share. My friends and I decided to visit this establishment on a rainy Saturday night. We arrived with high hopes, only to be met with an appalling level of service that completely ruined our evening.
Upon reaching the entrance around 10pm, we rang the buzzer and were greeted by a waiter who informed us that we could wait in Monro, a bar next door. He mentioned that if we saw people leaving, we should return and ring the buzzer again. However, what he failed to mention was that a queue would form in front of the door in the meantime.
Trusting the waiter's instructions, we obediently waited in Monro for nearly 40 minutes, eagerly anticipating our turn. Finally, we noticed some people leaving and decided it was time to make our way back. To our dismay, when we reached the door, we found a couple of people waiting ahead of us. Nevertheless, we remained optimistic and rang the buzzer, expecting to be seated.
To our utter disbelief, the same waiter who had given us the misleading instructions appeared before us again. This time, he bluntly stated that they couldn't accommodate us because we hadn't been waiting directly in front of the door. This turn of events left us feeling utterly frustrated and disheartened.
It is important to highlight that our evening was significantly impacted by this incident. We had heard positive things about this bar and were genuinely excited to have a memorable night. Instead, due to the lack of clear and accurate information provided by the staff, we wasted an hour of our time and left feeling thoroughly disappointed.
While I regret that I cannot provide the name of the specific employee who caused this ordeal, I can describe him as a person wearing glasses who was working on Saturday, July 15th. His actions, whether intentional or not, significantly tarnished our experience at this place. It is disheartening to encounter such poor service, particularly when one's expectations are high.
I hope this review serves as constructive feedback for the management of The Oracle. It is crucial to ensure that all staff members are adequately trained to provide accurate and transparent information to customers. Otherwise, the establishment runs the risk of alienating potential patrons and tarnishing its reputation.
In light of the negative experience I had, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend The Oracle to others. It is my sincere hope that the management takes this feedback seriously and implements measures to prevent such incidents from occurring...
Read moreI can't help it, have to give this place the most honest review I can. First of all: expensive. Drinks range from 7 to 10 pounds and you have to pay 5 pounds for entry. Had a decent margarita but the Tokyo iced tea was one of the most boring drinks I've ever had, didn't even finish it. The most annoying thing was definitely the heat. It was BOILING HOT inside. There's no AC. Not even a fan, with 30°C outside. That makes me think the owner or owners don't even hang out at their own bar, because who would let their customers and staff melt inside like that and not purchase at least one fan straight away? And I'm not even mentioning the health aspects of it, didn't we learn anything from covid? Air needs to circulate. I spent a hellish hour inside that flu box and can't even imagine how much of a torture it was for the waiters working inside for 8 hours... The toilet is Alice in wonderland sized (also with no ventilation inside) and if you're overweight you can expect some difficulties with moving around (oh and there's only one for the whole bar so expect a line). The magicians are cool and do a great job but that's it, for 5 pounds the least I would expect is a comfortable toilet and a comfortable temperature inside. And for a 10 pound cocktail I would expect it do be done to perfection, which is not the case. Would not go back. Probably worth one single visit for the novelty factor if you never been...
Read moreMade a booking for friends Hen and was told would be £45 per person which included a table and 2 cocktails. There was 10 of us booked so we paid our £450, then 2 more added and they agreed to let me pay the £90 on the day. When we arrived we were seated and the ladie who seated us told me that as we had paid and showed the £90 had been waved from our origional payment. Drinks were £12 each so between 12 of us this come to £288 still leaving them £162 in profit from our original payment of £450. We enjoyed our time and left saying bye. Later that night I was messaged by the person who took our booking saying we had left without payment, I explained what their staff had said, they abruptly said it wasn't the case and we still had to pay, which we have. Even my friends heard the staff say this so we split the money back between us all and I have now had to pay this £90 out of my own pocket because of their staff incompetents. This also means they charged £252 purely for keeping a table 5 till 7 on a Saturday (not even peak time) shocking customer service and would never return. Other cocktail bars in the earlier same vibe and better service...
