I’m always looking for a bakery with quality matching price, and google excavated Arôme.
I asked the staff serving what they would recommend and they immediately suggested the honey butter toast and pistachio chocolate escargot, and opted for the apple miso danish through my own volition.
The apple miso danish was very tasty: pastry was buttery but a little firm; apples elegantly sliced for a beautiful aesthetic were sumptuous; the caramel filling complements the apple well with a nice sweetness to it. I think a dash of cinnamon would elevate their game.
The honey butter toast was phenomenal - outside was golden and glazed with honey for a delicate crunch, with the inside super soft and fluffy - like eating a piece of cloud. It was very sweet and the butter was rich, so it was quite flavoursome. I imagine a dash of cinnamon would elevate their game.
The pistachio chocolate escargot was essentially analogous to a cinnamon swirl, with the insides of the pastry lathered with chocolate and sprinkled with crushed pistachio. The pastry was flaky with the chocolate complementing the pistachio well. It was nice, but I think a pistachio within the filling and dash of cardamom would elevate their game, with hazelnut chocolate, too.
I also got a latte and cappuccino, which were strong, smooth and creamy (and I’m unable to distinguish the differences).
The serving staff was super friendly, but others seemed to be a little guarded. Might be the covid. However, the design and outlay of the shop is beautiful and if you’re around Covent Garden, definitely pop over as there’s a broad array of items to...
Read moreCame here on a Thursday Morning at around 10:30 and there wasn't a queue thankfully. All the tables were taken but we got our food to go.
It's got a very clean aesthetic and it's easy to get your things and go. I know that sometimes the queue gets to be a 20 to 30 minute wait so be prepared.
This time round I started with a plain croissant. It was pretty good. Not too fresh and had a decent crisp to it but a little bit too sour for my tastes in the middle and the taste the buttery goodness didn't come through that strongly.
I also got the famous Honey Butter Toast. That was excellent. To be honest I'm still craving it a little. It had a lovely crunchy exterior and softish middle. There was also some great caramélisation of the honey on the edges. It's a rich heavy pasty so I recommend getting it to share. I wonder if I could have got it warm. Again can tell not that fresh but still moreish none the less.
Then I also tried the chicken hotdog and cheese croissant. It was splendid. The sausage was good and did it's part of adding a nice saltiness to balance out with the sweetness of the croissant. The croissant was crispier and had a glazing that provided a great crunchy exterior.
I think Arome is really good and always look forward to trying new things here but not everything is excellent. I tried some other things in the past and some missed the mark slightly. For example, the apple danish with miso didnt have miso coming through at all. However, I really wanna get that honey toast again and come here to try...

When I visited on a Wednesday morning at 9:30, there was no wait to order, though the setup outside suggests queues are common at busier times—something echoed in other reviews.
Inside, the layout is compact: a narrow dining area to the left, a display of beautifully presented pastries on the right, with the bakery and coffee bar further along the same side.
The menu features creative twists on classic pastries—think miso and apple Danish or a pain Suisse filled with nori and confit tomato. The latter was a standout: punchy, salty nori dominating in flavour, balanced with cheese shavings and wrapped in superbly crisp pastry. It’s bold and not for everyone, but definitely memorable.
The honey toast was another highlight—thick, brioche-like bread with a crisp caramelised crust, subtly sweet and soaked in honey. Simple but very well executed.
Less impressive was the miso apple caramel Danish, which I had later in the day. It had lost its crispness and tasted fairly average by then.
Prices are on the higher side, with most pastries over £5, but the inventive flavours and quality baking make it worth a visit—especially if you arrive early and...
