I had a life-threatening experience in this restaurant on the 14th of June, 2025. My family and I went there for dinner around 6:00 pm, and we all ordered Boeuf Bourguignon. Mine had wires in it. I managed to spit out 3 strips of wire and I am not sure if I swallowed any. The waiter immediately took my plate and threw it away, but I took photos beforehand. It is alarming and I believe that they have violated the food and health standards.
I informed the waiter and manager about the issue, but they did not seem to be apologetic about it. The manager just offered to replace the food and that was it. After they replaced the food, they still billed me for our orders and only refunded my order because the manager reasoned that the food served to my wife and daughter did not have any problems so they could only refund mine.
The manager handled the situation very poorly without apologizing, without showing any concern, and did not take the situation seriously. He even had intimidating gestures which made me very uncomfortable and traumatised. He responded in a hostile and defensive manner.
Some of the highlights of the conversations between me and the manager are as follows:
The manager told me that I still need to pay for the food except for the one the is served to me. I told him that it was ridiculous after what happened, and he replied with “Well life is ridiculous”.
I told him that I needed the calling card because if something happens to me, I can contact them. He replied. “Nothing is going to happen to you” I asked him how do you know that I did not swallow any metal/wire as well as my family members? He replied with “No, it is fine, pay what others have ordered, you still need to pay for it”
I asked him why are they so quick to throw away the plate or evidence? I am not finished with it yet, can I have it back? He replied with “No, you cannot, what are you going to do, take me to court? You can call the police if you want!”
I asked him if they are going to make an incident report or investigate it? He said a very insincere yes and diverted me back to paying the bill.
I asked him about the calling card for the tenth time, and he replied with “I will give you right after you pay, hurry up because I have 30 customers waiting for me” I replied that he did not care about what had just happened and that he was only concerned about getting money out of people, even if they had done wrong. He replied with “Well, there’s nothing I can do, what do you want me to do?”
We had a long conversation, but these are some of it as far as I remember. Me and my family had a bad experience and were very traumatised by what happened.

Read moreI Boulevard Brasserie in Covent Garden in November 2024 for afternoon tea, which was kindly organised by a friend. We picked this spot for its central location and reasonable pricing, and I was excited since it had been a while since my last afternoon tea.
Location: The brasserie is very conveniently located near Covent Garden, making it an ideal spot if you’re in the area.
Service: The staff were welcoming and attentive throughout our visit. With a reservation, we were seated upstairs promptly, where we enjoyed a nice view. The team regularly checked in to offer tea refills, which was a thoughtful touch.
Ambiance: The upstairs seating had a cozy feel, but there was an unusual smell both downstairs and upstairs, which slightly affected the experience. While the decor had some charm, it reminded me more of a pub than a classic afternoon tea venue.
Tea & Presentation: The porcelain teacups were elegant, but the tea was served in metal teapots, which didn’t quite match the overall theme. While practical for keeping tea warm, I would have preferred a more cohesive presentation.
Food: The food was enjoyable but fairly standard for afternoon tea. The sandwiches were fresh but smaller than expected, and I would have liked a better balance of savory and sweet items. The scones were the highlight—large, soft, and delicious, served with clotted cream and jam. The desserts, including macarons and a mousse, were good but not particularly memorable.
Extras: Since it was my birthday, the staff surprised me with a card, which was a lovely and thoughtful gesture.
Overall: Boulevard Brasserie offers a convenient and affordable afternoon tea experience with great service. While the food and ambiance didn’t stand out for me personally, it’s a good option for those looking to try a centrally located and reasonably priced afternoon tea. I would rate it a...
Read moreUnsafe food practice. We found 2 metal wire on our beef bourguignon and the male staff wearing glasses hurriedly took it away unapologetically. Did not even offered for the manager to deal with the situation and we had to ask to speak to the manager. You can review the cctv camera on the restaurant 14 June 2025 between 1835H-1850H in the end the manager still asked us to pay even for the dessert we didn’t receive. I do not normally post bad reviews but this restaurant you should avoid at all cost unless you want a metal wire get stuck in your esophagus
Update: i received a call from this restaurant yesterday via my personal number. At first i was thinking if they want to check how we were after we found out the metal wires in our food last saturday. BUT NO- the staff called me in a hostile tone complaining why i left a bad review and why my husband also left a bad review. FIRST OF ALL, IT IS OUR RIGHT TO VOICE OUT OUR VERY OWN EXPERIENCE WHICH I BELIEVE CAN LEAD TO A POTENTIAL HEALTH RISK. Constantly asking “what do we want?” SIR , WE WANT YOU TO BE PROFESSIONAL AND TAKE OUR CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM TO IMPROVE AND NOT TAKE IT AS PERSONAL ATTACK ON YOUR RESTAURANT. I left a bad review on Roebuck and they were fantastic in handling the situation and genuinely apologised. Maybe you should take notes from them in handling customer service? We have every right to leave a review here and on opentable where we used as a reservation app. This restaurant is also demanding me to delete my review. As a local guide, i am here to write my personal experience and...
