Nice atmosphere (hence the 3rd star), however the menu is incredibly overpriced, the markup for a can of diet coke is £1.90. However, when I ordered my sandwich, I did not expect it to come to the price of a full english breakfast! It was nice, but nothing to write home about. Higher prices demand higher quality goods. On that note, I unfortunately (like a few others) shall not be returning to this establishment unless they either raise the quality of their food to something that will reflect the price or lower the price to something that will reflect the quality of their food - please take note that the food is not of a bad quality, but instead is just the equivalent of paying £8 for a Tesco meal deal without the crisps.
Just as a word of advice as well, when asked about the Monday to Wednesday government scheme to kick start the economy, it is unwise to laugh at your customer considering they can take a 1 minute walk down the road and be met with multiple restaurants of the same calibre offering that scheme.
Apologies for the rant, this was just my experience, please swing by and give them a try, just be wary...
Read moreI was looking for a nice independent for a breakfast sandwich but having visited Buffet Bar today I feel robbed both by taste and financially. I ordered a bacon and egg toasted sandwich on brown bread. The bacon is all pre cooked - which I don't like. There are loads of lovely "caffs" in London that will fry bacon on the spot, it's not hard and it's much fresher. The bacon was piled in with no love or care, the bread was tasteless. The skinny latte I had was satisfactory and I have to say the service is fantastic - but the food was not. For a bacon and egg toasted sandwich and skinny latte I paid £8.60 - a rip off. Don't charge me diamond prices because you can't afford your rent! There are fab institutionalised caffs in London that serve far better food and its places like this that give them a bad name. Honestly I won't be coming back and urge others not to waste their time. I still need to find a good caff close to Clerkenwell Road. Any...
Read moreLovely old school cafe. Great for breakfast. Very wide selection of sandwiches and cooked breakfast.
Visited because our hotel was round the corner and didn’t have kitchen. It was the closest option bar costa.
We had two different sandwiches between us which really have set us up for our day. Atmosphere is great with loads of workers of jewellery business dining there. Loads customers are familiar with the staff which creates great atmosphere.
I found prices ok for London. Disagreeing with negative comments of place being a rip off. Cofee isnt £10, it was £3.30. Cheaper than starbucks.
Would definitely consider eating there again if back in the area. Think that lunch might...
