I miss the days of having Ube Ice-Cream at the Fillipino Hounslow fiesta and asked a Fillipino colleague at work where I could find Ube Ice-Cream and he told me about this place. I decided to visit (Thurs 27-05-21) and it's a nice little shop with nice ambience.

I decided to try an Iced Ube Latte. It was alright but the taste of Ube was subtle. However I will go back and try a shake as the flavour of the shake may be stronger. I wanted to buy a doughnut, but they didn't have any available and noticed the board says in "small" writing that they are only available on Fri, Sat & Sun. So I will go back and try a shake and hopefully get a doughnut. Nice little place, very popular.

Not cheap but you are paying for a delicacy that is not naturally grown in this country. Ube (Purple Yam) has to be imported but no grudges for that as it is a nice treat.

The shop is easy to find, its just off Newport Crt (a little alley with lots of bubble tea shops) just off the main road - Charing Cross Rd, main road that leads from Tottenham Crt Road past Leceister Sq station through to Traflagar Sq.

Follow Up (Fri 11/06/21) - I went back to try the Ube shake today and it was lovely. Subtle but could taste the light, natural flavour. Also on the board which is NOT advertised online are the doughnuts! In store it says doughnuts are only available FRI, SAT & SUN! I bought a Leche Flan and Ube doughnuts to try today. The Leche Flan one was delicious and really melted in the mouth. The Ube one was nice but I prefer in a drink/as Ice-Cream! I saw a guy with the Halo Halo and it looked really nice so I will be trying that next along with the Milo doughnut! Lovely little parlour and very popular!

Third Visit (Fri 02/07/21) - I went back to try the Halo Halo and Milo doughnut as well as wanting a Leche Flan doughnut as they are delicious. I ordered everything then when I got called to the front, I got told someone had ordered a box of the last 4 Leche Flan doughnuts so to choose something else, but I didn't want Ube as I prefer it as a drink/ice-cream so I asked for a refund. They seemed a bit put out but did issue a refund.

The Halo Halo consists of Jelly/Fruit/Some type of bean on the bottom followed by crushed ice with evaporated milk topped with leche flan piece and a scoop of ube ice cream with a choc curl wafer stick. I enjoyed the top part and middle bit but the bottom part was an acquired taste which I didn't finish.

I wanted to try the Milo doughnut to see what it tasted like. The doughnut itself is really delicious and soft/sugary but the milo is not chocolatey and very subtle in taste, however good to try...

I saw this place on tiktok and decided to check it out on my recent visit to London, I luckily ended up stumbling across it by mistake but I could definitely see this being a place that is slightly harder to locate if you don’t know Chinatown well enough. With London is a completely overpriced city, I really don’t think the prices in this place are that drastically expensive, for the quality of the food it is definitely worth it. I ended up ordering the ube brownie on the self serving kiosk, choosing the option of having it warm whilst also paying extra for some ube ice cream. Initially I ordered it for takeout as it’s a relatively small place so I wasn’t expecting to get a seat, but luckily timing was on my side and I got to properly enjoy the brownie indoors. The brownie itself was absolutely amazing, it was perfectly warm and it had a very soft consistency that almost melts in your mouth, the ube ice cream paired with it beautifully so I would really suggest paying the extra money for some ice cream as it only enhances the experience. Overall, if you put in the context of this being a small dessert place in the busy and expensive city of London, I wholeheartedly believe that Mamasons is a place worth checking out, the portion size left me pretty full if you’re really worried about the price. I truly to dream of the brownie regularly so I can 100% put my word to the fact that you won’t regret...

Aaaiiiteee. Listen, I'm not gonna lie to you. This place is a little pricey and I'm as cheap as the next Asian man but damn. I have been back here a few times now and Imma let you know why.

First of all, the Halo-halo is okay, not the best one I have had. I believe the ice needs to be a lot smaller as it felt like it was mini-cubes. The Calamansi lemonade is amazing. Note: the Calamansi lemonade will not be for everyone but damn, it is nice and refreshing.

If you're lucky enough to be there on a Friday/Weekend you may be able to purchase one of the Ube Donuts. Do it. They are good. You can also pre-order them at their shop online or other the phone I believe.

But the best thing here and if not the whole of china town is the Bilog. It's bloody amazing. Seriously. If you visit here, that's the first thing you order. It's amazing. The staff are so friendly and nice, every time I visit, I feel like I am reunited with my brothers. I've been living in London since birth and the Bilog is legit the first thing I have had that's made me feel like this was original and worth the trip to china town and the money for it. Try it. You won't regret it....
