Galeta Bakery — Restaurant in London

I’m not originally one to leave a review, however this culinary delight warrants the break with tradition!

I am a small cafe, just opening up after Lockdown. I felt like I needed a few new products to spice up our selection. I called Galeta to inquire about some new products. I spoke to this lovely and quirky girl from New Zealand called Sarah. She was so very helpful, talking me though a selection of products, of which I had 3 sent to the cafe. They arrived on time and looking dazzling. My particular favourite was a mixed box of Crodoughs. As soon as I put them in the display they went off like a frog in a sock! So beautifully sweet and moist, they were enough to turn the crabbyest Karens into the coolest of cucumbers! Thank you Galeta for providing the sugar and spice my little Hackney cafe needed to spice up my life! And thank you Sarah, for being such a darling and making this so easy! I bought a chocolate twist and a cookie from the booth in Westfield Stratford, which turned out to be really dry, sugary and totally lacking in flavour. As I was buying them a row broke out next to me as a woman was touching all the free tasters provided by the bakery and putting them back (so gross and dangerous esp in the wake of the pandemic). This was flagged to the girl and the guy serving, but they said they hadnt seen exactly what happened, so couldnt intervene and were not willing to remove the testers, despite multiple customers, me included saying what happened...do not recommend buying from here and definitely do not recommend going near the free tasters!

I was so excited to order this for a special treat. I read all the reviews and thought this was going to be top quality. I never hesitate to pay a little more for quality - so imagine my disappointment. The much anticipated red velvet cake, was well packaged (albeit in a massive box) had a lovely texture but had a horrible after taste. The cronuts were generously proportioned, but the taste was a shock. They tasted like stale donuts. They tasted as if they were not fresh and had been sitting around for a long time. I was also very niggled at the white box they came in having brown smudges. This may have been a smudge from another product - but this is off putting. They were binned. The customer service responded to my feedback to them with an offer of 15% discount on the next order, but I've lost confidence in them and won't order again.

I'm still looking for a high quality bakery for treats, pressies...
