Avoid at all costs. Went in for drinks before an awards ceremony, then went back for food after. I wish we had not bothered and gone somewhere else. It was meant to be a special meal out to celebrate my achievements & this place absolutely ruined it. My partner ordered the meat moussaka and I ordered the lamb tagine. What we were served was an utter embarrassment and something I wouldn't even feed to my dogs. The moussaka had clearly been cooked in a large batch as it was cut into a big square. It was still stone cold in the centre/ frozen. I was expecting a propper tagine : soft tender pieces of lamb vegetables etc. What turned up was basically a pile of bones and cartilage on a plate with a couple of small what could have been described as carrots 🥕 a week ago. I picked a tiny amount of meat off and tried it. It tasted old stale and not in any way fresh. We were given a small bole of rice to share, again that looked like it had been in a massive pot probably all day, in no way fresh. When my partner sent back his moussaka there was no apology, the manager didnt come over and they didn't even bring out any more rice to replace the stuff he had put on his plate. I think his moussaka had just been shoved in the microwave. Simply not good enough. Serving food like this is not only bad for business but it is very dangerous and they are going to make people ill. It was a Tues evening. There simply are no excuses. My partner was so angry that we left. He explained to the waiter again nonsorry and no manager. By this time it was 9.10 and most other places were either full or had stopped serving. We didn't manage to find anywhere else to eat and I spent the journey home in tears. This so called restaurant completely ruined what was meant to be a celebration of my achievements, left me starving hungry and in tears. If I could score them 0 stars 🌟 I would. If this was my restaurant I would be mortified to receive a review like this. These guys need to appear on an episode of Gordon ramsays kitchen nightmares. Worst meal i have had out in 10 years and at £18/£20 a main it wasn't exactly...
Read moreI am writing this as a direct reply to Haz Restaurant’s response to my earlier review 2 weeks back.
Thank you for your detailed reply. However, it is clear that your response is more about protecting the restaurant’s image than acknowledging the human aspect of what actually happened.
Let me clarify a few facts:
We had already placed an order before my sister used the washroom. The sequence was: greeted by the waiter → placed the order → I went to the table → my sister, in urgent need, headed to the restroom. Your CCTV may show timings, but unless you also enable audio, you are missing important context.
No complaint about the food or the waiter — both were fine. This review was never about that. My issue was purely with the inhumane, rigid attitude towards a female guest facing a sensitive medical situation. That deserves recognition, not deflection.
The manager may not have spoken directly, but when someone stands nearby speaking angrily in another language while looking at us repeatedly, it's not hard to feel targeted. I'm not naive. Whether the underlying reason was cultural, racial, or otherwise — I can't say. But the discomfort was real and undeniable.
As a tourist in London, this experience was deeply upsetting. Your insistence on rules over basic compassion is what’s disappointing. Policies are necessary — but how they're enforced reflects the heart of a business.
I hope you will revisit the CCTV — with audio this time — and reflect on the human experience, not just the...
Read moreDid the Christmas set menu, was £45 included 4 vegetarian starters, chicken shish and a desert.
3 of us got this menu so the 4 starters were in small saucers to share between 3.
My shish was literally a plate with 5 cubes of meat. Alongside small portion of cold, wet and soggy brocoli and peppers. The brocoli had a strange egg taste. Ive never had brocoli with greek/turkish food. So it did seem odd. A small salad or some roasted vegetables would have been better.
You had to pay extra for rice, salad, potatoes or chips.
The dessert was a very small baklava.
Being Mediterranean, I eat Turkish and Greek food a lot. And can honestly say this is the worst I've had. Very over priced. Including one drink, just the meal alone, came to £55/£60 (without any extra sides). With service charge on top it was around £80. I understand this is St Paul's so I guess you are paying to eat in this location.
The main host was lovely, very warm and pleased to have us. But the servers were overworked. When we asked for the bill it was basically thrown at my friend, which was uncalled for because we had barely any conversation with any serving staff.
We waited a really long time for our food. We came on a weekday.
Also they wouldn't give us a jug of water for the table and instead gave us tiny glasses of water.
The decor was very nice though. And well decorated inside. The manager and hostess were both friendly. The chicken was tasty but not worth the cost.
I wouldn't...
