Finally Canary Wharf gets a proper intimate cocktail bar. Yes there is the Alchemist and Boisdale which are both great in their own way but Soma has that hidden exclusive feel.
Walking in reminded me of the Izakaya style bars in Japan. We were a group of 6 so sat in the red room which a small room off the main bar. Service was great - relaxed and friendly.
We got to taste all the drinks between us and they all had something interesting about them. Not a bad drink on the list.
Pomegranate is a must have with the foam adding complexity and not just to look good.
Chaat is savoury and is literally like drinking actual Chaat!
Carrot and Apricot are for negroni lovers.
Mango with Ancho Reyes has a deep chocolatey spicyness.
Carom and Darjeeling are complex but well balanced and for people who want some thing different.
Coconut was fresh and light and very summery which was unexpected as the rest of the drinks were much more deep and complex.
Hopefully they change the menu seasonally to give us a reason to keep coming back.
The only note I would make is that the servers need to learn more about the ingredients and how they make the cocktails for us true cocktail...
Read moreI have been many times to the Soma in Soho, and I discovered that they have another outpost in Canary Wharf. Me and my friends were going to be in the area, therefore we had to try it l! This place has a completely different cocktail list, a dramatic and austere, minimal decor (think glamorous brutalism) that is magnificent, cool, chic and functional. The service is incredible, the cocktails are as amazing as usual, and the vibe is just perfect ! I had the Mango to start with and then the Apricot, both were masteclasses in the art of cocktail making. I do not recall what my 2 friends had, but we all tasted each other cocktails and we were all amazed by their deliciousness. Each and every one was well made, balanced, and very enjoyable. We had to go for dinner so we could not stay as long as we would have liked, but this place is a gem and deserves to be experienced. Turn up early to make sure it’s not full. Go ! It’s...
Read moreSOMA Canary Wharf offers a distinctive cocktail experience that stands out in London's vibrant bar scene. During my visit, I tried a sour cocktail infused with a strong cumin fragrance, providing an unexpected yet delightful twist. The blend of flavors was bold and aromatic, showcasing the bar's commitment to innovative mixology.
The ambiance is sleek and modern, with an industrial-chic design that creates a cozy yet upscale atmosphere. Despite its compact size, the bar maintains an intimate feel, making it perfect for both solo patrons and small groups.
While the cocktail menu is adventurous, it's worth noting that the bar snacks are more modest, serving as light accompaniments rather than substantial bites. If you're planning to dine, consider having a meal beforehand.
Overall, SOMA Canary Wharf is a must-visit for cocktail enthusiasts seeking unique flavors and a...
