Don't go with overall review and rating. Those are sponsored. Most reviewers just have 1 or 2 reviews and 95% reviewers have less than 10 reviews. Check reviews and rating of those who have higher review count and you will understand that it is worst and cheat restaurant. Worst restaurant in this area. First it is run by Bangaladeshi and not Indian. Second the rates are high. Third they have policy of one main dish per adult per order. So if you want to repeat, you will face same policy. It means each adult visiting need to order at least one main dish otherwise they will ask you to leave and you need to order all in one go...even chapatis. So in a grp of two adults, two main dishes are mandatory and that doesn't include any rice or bread items. If you order one rice and if that is not enough and want to repeat one more rice... you will have to order one main dish again per adult. If you convert a side dish to main dish, they will charge you double price with same portion size of side dish and they will not even inform you that they are going to double the price of side dish to make it price of a main dish.... Full rubbish. Fourth, trust me even taste was ordinary. We ordered dal and mix veg and both were ordinary.
Dal just had prominent garlic taste and mix veg just had capsicum and potato. They dont even know what indian taste is like. They think, garlic and coriander powder is enough to make a dish like Indian. Common chef... You are not suitable to make indian dishes. We ordered egg fried rice as well and it was like they just mixed cooked rice and plain ready egg bhurji together. They did not stir fry them together. And finally, fifth point.... Portion was too too less. One rice, cost £3.95, was not enough, even for a kid. They just gave 7 normal spoons in that rice portion. You atleast need three rice portions for two adults for a light lunch. When asked, their answer was, we are in central London and so what can you expect.
Try to avoid this restaurant and better to go to MacDonald or subway. It is waste of money and time and most important, mood. I had bill of £23 when we just ordered one rice, one dal and one mix veg and that was not enough for one person if you consider portion size. Staff was arrogant and rude. I will never consider this place to anyone. We ordered dal and mix veg which was side dish. Both with price of £5.45. They told us that two main dishes are mandatory and asked us if they can consider both dishes as main dish and we agreed. They told that you are Indians and we are Bangladesi and though we don't know Hindi, we can give that favor. This was okay with us. On bill, they charged £9.95 for both dishes. They never explained that they will double the price. I could have ordered dishes with original £9.95 price tag like biryani. We argued for 20 mins and just paid the price which was there in menu. They are actually in cheat and unfair business. They must face a police case for this cheating. They did not allow us to take bill and since we had bus to catch, and we were already late, we left matter that time. But someone with similar experience and bill must file cheating case agaist them. I will make a case on basis of few photographs which I took during my next visit to London.
I will also research if I can make a case while I am outside London. Please suggest if anyone...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Lovage, it was an absolutely incredible experience! From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable meal.
The food at Lovage is nothing short of phenomenal. Each dish is a masterful creation, bursting with rich and complex flavors that tantalize the taste buds. The culinary team at Lovage clearly puts a lot of thought and care into every plate, resulting in a dining experience that is both exciting and deeply satisfying.
One of the standout dishes for me was the Achary Chicken. The flavors were perfectly balanced, with a beautiful harmony that left me craving more. The presentation was also stunning, making it a feast for the eyes as well as the palate.
Another highlight was the condiments for the Popedom's. The freshness of the onion mix shone through in every bite, and the rich, creamy texture in the mint sauce was pure comfort. The spices in the curry where spot on, showcasing the chef’s expert touch.
The menu at Lovage offers a wide variety of options, each more enticing than the last. Whether you're in the mood for something hearty and robust or light and refreshing, there's something to satisfy every craving.
In addition to the outstanding food, the service was impeccable. The staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the cuisine, enhancing the overall dining experience.
In conclusion, Lovage is a true curry gem. The amazing food, bursting with great flavors, makes it a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a great curry adventure. I can't recommend it...
Read moreOk, we prebooked our table, but when we got there, they put us both on that table that was right next to the door, the bottom restaurant was all full, but the top there was nobody. So I asked them can we sit up at the top? As every time someone came through the door, I was frozen! (Also people leaving to smoke) So he said no as all the top was fully booked up (This was a lie). So we sat down and we got the poppadum's and pickle tray, and before we'd even started the old one with the grey hair and glasses, said what would you like to order? (We'd not even looked at the menu yet) So I said can we have the poppadum's 1st then we will have a look at the menu and he looked at me like I was daft. We started eating poppadum's and literally 2 mins later he came back and said what do you want to order? I said mate we will order after these, and he goes so you want to order later? I said YES!! About 10 mins later 5 people walked in, me frozen again, and he goes how many? They went 5, he said follow me, and sat them up top of the restaurant, you know where it was allegedly all prebooked!! So because I didn't order when he wanted me to he basically ignored us for 30 mins. The starters were lovely, we shared a chicken madras which was a really poor portion, 6 bits of chicken and hardly any sauce. At the end of the night they had the cheek to ask if we wanted to tip them!! It was a NO!
Wont go back, dreadful service, mediocre food, too expensive as well for...
