I'm going to review the features and services within this restaurant and then give my overall review. Starting with:
Food - The menu has a decent variety of meals to pick from, but what's surprising was the vast variety of vegetarian food to chose from. The food itself, particularly the chicken was okay. It wasn't as tasty as KFC chicken but it wasn't bland either. It alright - although it's nothing to rave about.
Customer service - The customer service was average - neither good or bad. It's worth mentioning that 2 of the guys serving did make an effort to provide good service, which was nice and worth commending them for, the other staff members could learn from them.
Queue speed - I had to wait 5 minutes on average to get served and then 7 minutes on average for the food I ordered. The queues can be longer depending on how busy it is, but it usually takes no more than 5 minutes before you get to order which isn't too bad considering how busy the place is.
Sitting space - The sitting area is heavily crowded as tables are located quite close to each other. I've always had to end up lowkey shouting when talking to the people I was sitting with because it tends to get REALLY LOUD. This of course makes it impossible not to feel subjugated to listening in on other people's conversations due to the loud crowds of people talking over each other.
Lighting - The lighting inside is pretty dim which isn't really ideal for taking photos. I guess you could argue though that it's better for a dinner setting since it does set the tone for that.
Atmosphere - The restaurant looks okay from the inside and out. However, it is lacking in terms of actual design and decor - but then again it's a Nandos chain so not much to be expected there. The background music is barely audible due to the loud crowds of people inside talking.
Hygiene - This is unfortunately the part where it all fell apart for me. The men's toilet were a mess. 2 out of the 3 taps were broken and as you'll see from my pictures, the cubicle toilets where in bad condition. They were unclean and toilet paper was everywhere - I pitty the fool who has to use them and do not envy the one having to clean that up.
Summary - Overall this restaurant is okay at best. There are much better options around in my opinion especially seeing as how the price is hardly...
Read moreI've been visiting Nandos since I was a teen, remember when it first opened in Eailing and Earl’s Court in the 90s, we enjoyed going there after school. But, this particular branch was disappointing, this is the worse Nando’s I've EVER visited.
I recently visited Nando’s and was left thoroughly disappointed by both the customer service and the quality of the food. From the moment I entered, the experience felt unwelcoming. The woman at the front did not greet me or offer much assistance. I noticed that a man who arrived about ten minutes after me was greeted warmly, offered a menu, and directed to a seat. In contrast, I had to approach her to ask about the menu. She told me there was no lunch menu and dismissively pointed toward the entrance, saying the menu was near the door.
When I went to pay and tried to add the Nando’s app for rewards, the other female staff member handling my payment rushed me, insisting I can download the app and add the code later, even though there was no queue and it was a quiet time of day.
The food arrived alarmingly quickly, within five minutes of ordering and unfortunately, this reflected in the quality. The chicken was too wet and didn’t even taste like peri peri, with some parts visibly pink. I managed to eat one piece but couldn’t stomach the second. When I asked for the second piece to be redone, it arrived in a similar condition. A friendly male manager attempted to resolve the issue by asking the cook to ensure the chicken was well done, but even then, it was still wet and pink in places. At that point, I decided to just take it home to cook properly myself. I have seen a good review with chicken that look proper, unfortunately mines wasn’t and with the customer service being so poor, I just couldn’t look past this.
I left with a near-empty stomach, feeling unsatisfied. Having visited many Nando’s locations over the years, this particular branch stands out as the worst. The lack of hospitality and the poor food quality make it highly unlikely I...
Read moreThe food at Nandos is always tasty but I think I've hit my limit with the "order online, not my problem" approach to service that has infected so many places these days.
I arrived with my elderly parents and we were seated fine, but the waitress didn't provide any menus. When I asked for a menu, she just looked annoyed and said "the menu is on the website". I asked again if she could give us a menu for me dad to read and she grudgingly went to the large stack of menus and gave me two to share between three. I am not sure why menus are such a precious commodity.
We ordered on the website, which was fine, and I ordered a box of pastel de nata tarts, but the waitress then brought these tarts out on a plate first, before our starter, as if we would like to eat dessert first. When I asked for the box, she said they didn't have any of the boxes on the website, so in the end I had to take them in a takeaway box. Then she brought the drinks over and left the tray on our table so I had to go return that to her colleague. The food was fine in the end, though the chicken was a bit lukewarm.
I don't want to single out any particular person as they're all probably paid quite badly and having a rubbish time. I think it's more that there was a generally sad atmosphere to this place compared to other Nandos I've visited. It probably doesn't help that it's in a quiet upstairs bit of a half-derelict shopping centre, with a repossessed shop opposite, in what seems to be another failed development by the City of London. There are other much better Nandos to visit than this one, and it's a shame that this usually consistent chain is having problems. I hope they can sort it out, or else just move to a less depressing location and give everyone there a...
