Nando’s – The Peri-Peri Experience
Introduction Nando’s is a globally recognized restaurant chain renowned for its flame-grilled peri-peri chicken. Born in South Africa in 1987, it has since become a staple for casual dining in over 30 countries, including a beloved presence in the United Kingdom. Known for its bold flavors and vibrant atmosphere, Nando’s offers more than just a meal—it’s a culinary experience.
Ambiance and Decor One of Nando’s standout features is its unique and welcoming atmosphere. Each location is thoughtfully designed with a blend of contemporary and traditional African-inspired decor, often showcasing vibrant artwork and warm, earthy tones. The casual and lively vibe is perfect for everything from quick lunches to relaxed dinners with friends and family. Friendly staff and a self-service sauce station add to the laid-back charm.
Menu and Cuisine The star of the menu is, of course, the flame-grilled peri-peri chicken, marinated for 24 hours and cooked to perfection. Whether you prefer a whole chicken, wings, thighs, or a burger, you can customize your meal with a range of spice levels, from the mild “Lemon & Herb” to the fiery “Extra Hot.”
Nando’s also caters to diverse tastes with a variety of sides, such as peri-peri chips, garlic bread, spicy rice, and coleslaw. Vegetarian and plant-based options like the “Great Imitator” wrap and hearty salads ensure there’s something for everyone. Additionally, the menu includes gluten-free options, making it accessible to a wide range of dietary preferences.
Customer Experience Nando’s has built a loyal following thanks to its consistently flavorful food and flexibility for customization. Many diners appreciate the interactive dining experience, including selecting their spice level and choosing from the signature peri-peri sauces at the table.
However, recent feedback highlights concerns about rising prices and slightly smaller portions. Despite this, most patrons agree that the quality and taste of the food justify the cost. A customer remarked, “The chicken is always perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor—it’s worth every penny.”
Locations and Accessibility With numerous locations across the UK, Nando’s is a convenient choice for almost any occasion. Restaurants are often strategically located in urban centers, shopping malls, and near entertainment venues, making them easily accessible whether you’re out for a quick bite, a family dinner, or a pre-movie meal.
Conclusion Nando’s continues to be a go-to destination for peri-peri enthusiasts and casual diners alike. Its vibrant ambiance, bold and customizable flavors, and diverse menu ensure that it appeals to a wide audience. While some diners have raised concerns about value for money, the overall experience—anchored by great food and a welcoming atmosphere—keeps Nando’s a top choice for flavorful, feel-good dining.

Read moreWorst experience ever - anywhere. This. Is long to explain everything, but read this before going! We searched this place out after landing in London on a referral from a friend. It was at 12:24 that we placed our order, so obviously it was busy. After 30 minutes we started to wonder where our food was. There was another table that was notably upset at not receiving their food yet either. I heard the server tell them it was just busy and orders come out as they were put in. Well after awhile there were 4 tables that ordered around the same time that still had not received their food, including us. My husband had to go get the manager. We gathered from what we were hearing from the other tables that they forgot our orders and had to remake them all. One table received their food and then a few minutes later we received ours. It was 52 minutes from the time we placed out order. Our food was burnt and my husband's side was cold. Also, I had some weird green plastic melted on my wedges. (see pictures) The food was mediocre in taste and the service was terrible - they didn't even apologize for the wait. (it was only right before we were leaving that the other two tables got their food) The manager had ended up taking our receipt earlier to remake the order, so my husband asks for a copy. I figured at this point he would apologize for the wait and offer to comp at least part of our meal. Nothing. Not even an apology. I had it. I told my husband I was getting a refund. It was a complete waste of our money and the absolute worst service we've ever received. But that wasn't even the worst part. When I explained that I would like to speak with the manager for a refund, he came over and asked what the problem was. I explained (not like he didn't know) that we waited an hour for our food and it was burnt and cold when we did get it. And then he argued with me telling me it didn't take an hour and the food wasn't cold. After 5 minutes I was getting really upset, and that takes a lot for me. I asked if there was someone higher up I could speak with and he said it was him. I held up my receipt and said "and you won't do anything about this?!" He told me he couldn't and then again told me it wasn't an hour and it wasn't cold. I said "okay, I don't care if it was cold or not - it still took an hour. We ordered at 12:24 (I pointed to the receipt) and received our food at 1:16. You messed up four tables, and we were one of them!" He finally said he could give us a free meal next time. I was pissed. I said "there is no next time. We don't live here. I want this money back!" He finally said he would give me half back but had to keep the receipt. Fine. I was shaking mad at that point. Do yourself a favor. Stay away from this place. The manager/owner is a complete jerk and the service is almost as bad. The only that was good was the...
Read moreA very disappointing experience last night, it took a while to be seated, and then when someone came to seat us the table was still dirty so had to be cleaned before we could sit down (there were no plates etc left on the table just one single ketchup bottle so it had been a while since someone had left).
We decided we would order through the app rather than queue up and so ordered our drinks, food and desserts all in one. Our glasses came very quickly but unfortunately one of the main meals was significantly delayed in coming compared to the other 3 and it just happened to be the child who was left waiting.
The food was good definitely up to the Nando's standard, however after finishing our main meal we waited 40 mins and no desserts came and no one came to clear our plates. Eventually we had to go up to the counter where the woman said "oh sorry we forgot about it" then promptly put on her coat and left. It was another 5 minutes before someone came over to inform us one of the desserts was no longer in stock (it was available on the app when I ordered so clearly they had some at the time but the delay in bringing it out had meant they'd run out).
It was another 10 minutes before the other desserts finally arrived and the waitress attempted to put them down next to all our food plates that still hadn't been cleared away. When we asked her to please clear the table before putting our desserts down she just huffed walked away then came back and started clearing the table muttering under her breath about how they're very busy right now.
I don't accept being busy as an excuse to slack and be lazy, every work place gets busy it doesn't mean you don't do your job, if the team are incapable of pulling together and pushing through the busy periods then they need re-training. You're in the restaurant business it's going to constantly be busy the attitude was unacceptable and it left a bad impression on...
