I have just had the pleasure of dining at 20 Berkeley Street and wow did it impress!

I went with my friend and upon walking in it was clear we were in for a treat - this place is a real feast for the senses. The decor and lighting can best be described as exquisite: they create a wonderfully convivial mood whilst maintaining an effortless elegance.

We weren’t seated in The Orange Room but we were able to have a peek inside while the staff took our bags and it was gorgeous! We were taken down to the bar for some pre-dinner drinks; neither of us drink alcohol, so we were presented with the ‘mocktail’ options. I ordered a mock-mojito and I was surprised by how good it was, the citrusy and herby notes complementing the sweetness and gentle kick of the ginger beer base flavour.

Upon being shown to our table, we were able to check out the menu. The theme is very much modern British, with every effort being made to source high-quality British produce.

Food-wise, it all started with a bang when we were presented with the honey glazed dinner rolls and accompanying marmite butter. These rolls are to DIE for, soft parcels of fluffy, bready wonder - if heaven could be baked into bread form, then these rolls would be it! They were so good, I seriously considered ordering another round of them. The marmite butter was the perfect accompaniment, but then I like marmite! I also appreciated how this dish was effective in setting the ‘British’ theme.

The quality continued with my starter proper: I had ordered the special, scallops draped with a small slice of ham and accompanied by a black pudding pasta parcel and wild garlic veloute. I had to pace myself as it was quite a small dish but super tasty, so I made sure I savoured every bite. I kind of wish it was on the regular menu and not just a special as I would definitely order it again.

For my main I ordered rib-eye steak, whilst my friend ordered the Shropshire Iberico pork, and we shared sides of patatas bravas, grilled courgettes and farm greens. The steak was tender and succulent, but I think my mate’s pork dish was even better (he let me try some): the sweet onions and mushrooms were gloriously flavoursome. The veggies were tasty - I wish I could cook courgettes as perfectly as these - but the patatas bravas were on another level, simply out of this world: almost like tender, chunky chips, fried to a golden crisp. With both the bread, and these patatas, it is clear this place has perfected carbs!

For dessert we shared the chocolate and hazel tart and the tarte tartin. I am a chocolate fiend so I naturally loved the chocolate dessert but the tarte tatin impressed with the soft mellowness of its apples and the comforting refinement of its pastry.

The food won me over but I was also impressed by the staff, who were both friendly and attentive without being rigid or stuffy.

This place is a winner and I can’t wait to come back to try some of the other menu options - the porterhouse steak looks intriguing, as do some of the seafood dishes. And of course, next time I simply must have more of the dinner rolls and...

A Night to Remember at NIJU – Simply Unforgettable!

My visit to NIJU was nothing short of perfection—a true once-in-a-lifetime evening that left me completely enchanted. This Japanese gem in London has set the bar sky-high for culinary excellence, atmosphere, and service.

From the moment I walked through the door, I was transported to another world. The atmosphere was elegant yet inviting, with a seamless blend of modern sophistication and traditional Japanese charm. The ambient lighting, tasteful design, and serene vibe created a perfect setting for what turned out to be one of the most memorable dining experiences of my life.

The staff at NIJU delivered impeccable service—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They anticipated every need before we even realized it and explained each dish with enthusiasm and expertise, which only added to the sense that we were experiencing something truly special.

Now, let’s talk about the food—oh, the food! Every single dish at NIJU was crafted to absolute perfection. The sashimi and nigiri were divine—fresh, melt-in-your-mouth textures accompanied by flavors so vibrant and pure that it felt as though the ocean itself had been transported to our table. Each bite told a story of precision and artistry, making it clear that this was Japanese cuisine at its finest.

Then there was the Wagyu, which was truly out of this world. Rich, tender, and bursting with flavor, it was the ultimate highlight—the proverbial cherry on top of an already perfect meal. I can honestly say I’ve never tasted anything that comes close to its perfection.

The cocktails at NIJU were another standout—carefully crafted, balanced, and utterly sublime. Each sip was a sensory experience, whether it was a refreshing, citrusy creation or a deeper, more complex mix. It’s clear the bar team at NIJU are true masters of their craft.

And just when I thought the evening couldn’t possibly get any better, the dessert arrived. It was an absolute masterpiece—every bite a heavenly explosion of flavor. Beyond just tasting incredible, it was presented with such elegance and creativity that it felt like a work of art.

NIJU is, without question, a restaurant I’ll visit again and again. It excels in every possible way—from the extraordinary food and drinks to the mesmerizing atmosphere and world-class service. It’s rare to find a place that delivers such a phenomenal dining experience, but NIJU has managed to achieve exactly that.

Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or simply looking for an unforgettable night out, NIJU is the place to be. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough—go and prepare to be...
