North Lodge Café — Restaurant in London

Not having very much time, I stopped here and ordered a cup of tea and two slices of wholemeal toast and butter. A very simple order, or so I thought. After ten minutes the tea arrived, the milk served in a separate jug but no spoon. After twenty five minutes I asked the waitress where my toast was. She eventually served me with two slices of bread that were neither wholemeal or toasted. It could not even be described as lightly toasted, it was just luke warm. A woman sitting on a nearby table had already sent her toast back to be put through the toaster again. It is clear that that the concept of ‘toasting' bread is something they don't understand or for that matter the difference between wholemeal and white bread. I would like to have taken this further but had to return to work (hungry). If you like tea and toast then sorry I cannot recommend this place, very poor...

Unfortunately not a great experience for my partner and I, The staff came across rather abruptly and a little rude. On the whole Really put a damper on our afternoon.

The rules for the queueing system were not clearly stated (whilst there is only a one way exit the entrance is Two way) meaning as we stepped forward in the queue (As we thought was in line with the socially distanced queue) we were called to get away from the door Which was not least embarrassing but led to my partner tripping over the plant pot holding the door open as she backed away.

Once we’d sat down at a table we were promptly told we had to vacate the table, as that area was just about to be closed (again with no signage or suggestion that this would be the case and other tables...

The location, cleanliness, seating, and toilet facilities of this café are brilliant. No complaints !

The problems with this café stem from there only being one overworked employee. They do not have time to be friendly with customers because they have several orders they need to fulfil. Prepare for a 10min + wait for coffee. There needs to be someone taking orders and another member of staff preparing food and making coffees. The croissants do not taste fresh yet have the same pricing as a bakery. They taste like supermarket croissants. Also, the almond croissants had all been bought by 1130 and there were no replacements.

The regular coffee serving is very small. Yet still priced the same as other places. It was...
