Walked in expecting a simple meal, walked out feeling like I’d been spoiled. First off — major props to the service here, and extra points to the boss for being so generous.
The crab porridge? A whole Blue Swimmer Crab in there. None of that “just a sprinkle” nonsense — we’re talking the real deal. Sweet, fresh, full of flavour. Only thing is, the texture’s on the lighter side, so if you like it thick and hearty, keep that in mind.
Tried their new dessert — plum sauce tomatoes. Sounds odd? Trust me, they’re ridiculously refreshing, a little tangy, and apparently a limited-time thing. Consider them the seasonal celebrity guest star of the menu.
Oh, and here’s where I almost fell off my chair: All lo mein dishes are £8.90 right now. Total steal. Went for the spicy beef brisket lo mein — not crazy hot, just nicely warm with flavour. Noodles lean a bit on the soft side, so springy-noodle purists, remember to ask for them firmer.
The beef tendon stew? Comfort in a bowl. Rich flavour, warm and satisfying. Honestly a perfect sidekick to the noodles.
Dessert time again — taro pudding. Big portion, creamy and filling. Personally, I could only handle one piece… maaaybe two if I was feeling reckless.
Bottom line: This place gives you good quality, tasty food at prices that make you do a double-take. My score? A...
Read moreSpotted this place on a walk down at Brick Lane and been wanting to try it. Finally went there! The atmosphere and aesthetics are very cool. Had to wait 10m for a table and the place was quite crowded, which is usually a good sign. To start, the menu was quite confusing but one of the waiters took the time to talk us through. We finally ordered what we had our eyes on. The prices seemed reasonable until the dishes started to arrive - all at different times btw. The pork belly, which comes on its own, is tiny. Also underwhelming in terms of flavour. We had also ordered a side of spinach at a ridiculous price, that came on its own. This portion was very small for the asking price. The waiters seemed very confused and kept us waiting for cutlery, or napkins, or even side dishes. A little bit all over the place. Not to mention the £10 service charge, when we were given takeaway paper coffee cups for our water (when everyone else had glasses). In the end this meal was way overpriced and not that delicious. Apart from the cost and the forgetful service, nothing has stayed in our memory. Simply...
Read moreThis restaurant’s food is truly disappointing. The fried meatballs were as black as charcoal and it was clearly over-fried and a total failure—yet they still dared to serve it?
The wonton noodles were even worse. Nowhere near authentic Hong Kong-style.
But the most shocking part is the garlic spinach. When the dish arrived, I was stunned—why was the water in the plate BLACK? Was the spinach not washed properly? Or was it a problem with the kitchen’s preparation? Either way, it was completely unappetizing. How did this even make it to the table?
To make things worse, the dishes were served one by one, with at least a 10-minute wait between each. Am I dining at an omakase restaurant? At least omakase is meant to be a pleasant surprise—this meal was just one shocking disappointment after another. If you want to test your patience, this place is the...
