With respect to this independent bagel shop the bagels are rather good, heavy on the onion and garlic flavours which I enjoy, and there’s a good balance of textures/flavours. Unfortunately any enjoyment I had was completely outweighed by the wait time.
I ordered a bagel and waited just under an hour for it to be made, there was a long que which I understand, but I would never expect that kind of wait for a sandwich. The staff were friendly (I think a bit overwhelmed by the crowd) but they honestly moved very slowly and was a bit chaotic. I could see there was effort going into the bagels as they were being made, but an hour wait is a very long time for a sandwich. If nothing else customers should be made aware of the extremely long wait times.
The bagels are on the steeper side which is fine imo as this is a small business, and there’s a lot of filling. It would be nice to have cheaper wholesale prices.
I think the filled bagels should be pre prepared, it would save so much time and my bagel was cold by the time it got to me anyway.
They closed at about 12 when their opening hours say they close at 2, which is something to...
Read moreTop tier bagels in Dalston! I know we have a couple of heritage East London places (I grew up trekking to beigel bake weekly!) but wow am I glad Papo's has joined the selection 👌🏾 I'm a little surprised to see some reviews on here with such little compassion for a small, family run, local & independent business - yes, on a weekend theres a queue and it can be loong but that's pretty much the same story for every small eatery in London right now, if queuing isn't your thing I highly recommend a mid week visit by noon, they're open til 2pm OR until sold out (and they're bloody delicious so you can bet the sell out!) Whenever I go for my fav (cold cuts on an everything, toasted) the team are great. The vibe I get from them is that they're there to serve the community and build community which is probs why they're a neighbourhood favourite - it's incredible to see they went from local delivery only, to a shop, to selling out every week!
Tips: they're open 9am - 2pm OR until sold out. They always post on IG stories if they're sold out, during the week is a shorter wait time, don't sleep on the bagel chips - they've become a...
Read moreI had ordered from Papo’s a few times before when they were doing £5 nationwide delivery and really liked the bagels - it was the only bagel place in London doing deliveries outside of London. I placed an order a few weeks ago for Jan and got confirmation day of my delivery that my order was accepted, but that didn’t make much sense since deliveries were supposed to be before noon. I thought maybe they increased the charge of delivery because they could deliver further away (I am 1-1.5 hours from London).
Had to email them to find out what was going on and they said they stopped doing nationwide delivery last year. Keep in mind nationwide delivery is still plastered all over their website and there was no mention on instagram they stopped doing deliveries either.
Really disappointed in the lack of communication and they are still advertising nationwide delivery on...
