It's shocking that Katja has been able to retain a position at Paul's. 2 years ago I went into this location with my friend to buy a coffee. It was summer and extremely hot. There was an older couple in the store and us and no one else. The older couple had ordered and were to the side waiting for their drinks/food. I approached and asked if they sold ice coffee. The woman behind the counter, with name tag manager Katja, full on screamed in my face no we don't. The older couple looked at me with utter fear in their faces and a look of questioning "are you okay?". Because the way she shouted at me was as if with every once of hatred a person could muster. Next, my friend who is white, blonde, walked up and Katja's whole demeanour changed. She was polite, professional and calm. I had written into Paul's customer care about this and all they could say was "we're investigating". It looks like investigating means sweeping things under the carpet as I have read in other more recent comments that "Kat" is still working there. And I have to say, I have experienced this glacial and rude behaviour in another branch of Paul's. Which makes one question: is this the way black customers are treated? The treatment I received on that day...

Absolutely disgusting customer service, I was outside with my baby in the pram and as only one side of the door was open I couldn’t fit through. The shop was empty and the staff were just watching and could see I was struggling! I went inside to ask if someone can open the other side so I can come in, reluctantly someone did. Then again waited to be serviced as they were just chatting, as I got my things to leave I’ve gone back to the door as the staff member had now closed it and again while watching me try to get out the door again I’ve asked if this can be opened again for the lady to reply ā€œuse the other doorā€? You couldn’t have said that while you saw me trying to fit through the door? Only for me to ask and then you tell me? To then have some young kid who works there say open the door yourself we don’t have to do anything. Never have I heard such nonsense, when do you ever go into John Lewis, Nando’s wherever and have to start figuring out how to undo the locks? And with a pram?? No because everywhere else you will find staff kind enough to help you and not expect you to figure out how the locks on their doors work. Bunch of clowns, not sure who hired them but the staff here are incompetent, rude and have 0...

from outside it seemed appealing with good food. Once inside, we found a cold, unpleasant atmosphere. Nevertheless, my friends and I decided to order and sat inside. The room was small, tables too close to each other and definitely filthy! The tray was sticky and brownish...The toilet without soap or toilet paper and definitely not cleaned. I was also robbed during my staying there. Asked for help but the manager just ignored me, refusing to call police for me (the number she gave me, after insisting, did not work from my foreign cell, as it was probably meant for English numbers. ) A girl sitting at a table helped me, I called police and after reporting, the policeman asked to speak to the manager. She kept him waiting for a few minutes.... A very unpleasant and rude person who does not help this branch of Paul be what it should be! I will never be back...

Shocking food waste at Paul’s, King’s Road. I visit Paul’s on King’s Road often — and I’ve noticed this happening regularly in the evenings. Dozens of untouched loaves and baguettes thrown straight into bin bags — not stale, not damaged — just discarded. In a city where people rely on food banks, and during a time when food waste drives climate breakdown, this is simply indefensible. Paul is a major brand with the resources and reach to partner with local charities, food redistribution programs, or community kitchens. But instead, they choose to throw it all away — every single day — without a system in place, without care. This isn’t just waste. It’s neglect. In 2025, there is no excuse for this. Paul, you must do better. Set up a redistribution plan. Partner with food charities. Show the responsibility that your platform demands

The quality is amazing. The service was with a smile. The variety is great. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is cause I asked for a salami & cheese baguette but I got a ham & cheese one. Try their own brand crisps. Very yummy. Also, I usually find that own brand crisps hurt my palate cause they are so hard; but Paul's crisps are soft & gentle, just like a snowflake falling into my belly.

They served us the wrong order and missed an order out & we waited an hour before we were served brunch and the place wasn’t busy. We ordered 2 poached eggs with tomato & avocado. These came with salmon instead of tomato and were cold. We also ordered scrambled eggs which never came. The lady was unhelpful and offered a refund of Ā£8 out of a Ā£50 order. I would not recommend for cooked brunch.
