Ridiculous pricing policy at Shad Restaurant. If you walk in and order food for collection, you end up paying far more than if you order online. Example: Chicken Biryani is £17 in the restaurant but only £13 on Just Eat – that’s a 30% hike for no reason. When I questioned it, the staff brushed it off saying “that’s how it is.” I asked if I could cancel my order (just minutes after placing it) to order online instead, but they refused. This is an unfair and misleading practice that punishes customers who try to support the restaurant directly. I won’t be returning and would caution others to check online prices first. I don't know why my bill indicates table number when I never sat in the restaurant and ate. Also, I mentioned to the staff that it is unfair that I have been charged high price for collection and they said they can't do anything about it.

We visited this place and waited for 30 mins for a starter and since the started we are waiting from 30 minutes to get our mains we got into the restaurant at 8.40 ordered the food at 8.50 and the starter arrived at 9.15 and we finished at 9.25 the mains arrived at 9.45 . We tried asking them for atleast 10 times nobody responded. The food is quite good but cosy but still no complains as it's close to tower bridge so we can expect the priceeeee£££££. We ordered special fried rice 4.95 pounds and the bowl is not even enough for one year old kid. If there is a chance to give zero star I could have given zero star

Ambience : 5 star Location: 5 star Food Taste: 4 star Facilities : 1 star Staff Behaviour : 1 star If you have elderly please avoid going there as they don’t have step free access for washroom. Not even for hand wash. Very rude behaviour of staffs. Rule : If you are 4 persons including kids, you have to order 4 main courses minimum even if you can eat or not to order a side dish. I don’t think star ratings will affect them anyway as they are the only one near to London Tower bridge. But I hope the management can take proper action for these behaviour and facilities.

I visited this restaurant with a group of work friends. Nine of us in total. (Majority of us black).

The waiters were fine at first and got us a large table to accommodate us and took our orders.

1 x bad customer service

When the staff started bringing out our food, there was only one piece of Naan bread. So we only assumed that the rest was on its way. Half way through eating our dinner, we asked where the rest of the naan was. And the waiter said that the chef has now turned off the oven and will no longer be serving Naan.

There was a big group of South Asian men who were eating Naan bread. Plus a white couple who were also eating Naan.

I said that is fine could you take off the 8x Naan breads we ordered off our bill please?

The waiter soon changed his mind and said "Okay, okay we will bring you naan."

2 x poor customer service

Half of us had not finished eating, and the waiter kept standing behind us and kept asking if he could clean the table. So we started giving empty plates. As that is what we all thought he wanted. And then a couple minutes later, the waiter asked again if he could clean the table.

I explained that there were no more empty plates. The waiter then said, "No, I want to wipe the table."

So I said, "Would it not make sense to wipe the table down after we have left? What is the rush?"

I simply could not comprehend why we should have to get up to allow the waiter to clean the table. It was clear that we hadn't all finished eating, so there was a massive chance that we would have dirtied the table again.

Furthermore, not a single server approached the large group of Asians or the table of white couples to urge them to get up so they could clean.

And then the waiter came back and asked again. So I said, "How can you expect to clean the table if half of us are still eating?" The waiter then said, "Oh, well, you can stand up and i'll clean your area."

I just ignored him from this point.

I just think some Asians do not respect black Caribbean/African people. The way they talk and treat us, even us black British people, as if we are lower then them?

It's unfortunate for me that I now have to be more selective when choosing which Asian restaurant I dine at. As I simply do adore eating korma......with...

Overly the food was delicious. Would really recommend the lamb dishes and maybe the papadums. The mango chutney and the mint sauce for the papadums were excellent, but unfortunately I saw something that I wouldn't order this dish again. we haven't finished this yet (still 3 whole papadums left), but the main courses have already arrived and before we knew it. The waiter just took the sauces for the paradums away without asking us whether we still needed it for the paradums. I saw him taking the sauces away to a corner near the till, so we requested the sauces back. And this caught my attention. I kept seeing the waiters taking all the sauces for the paradums to this corder in stead of the kitchen. And when they needed sauces for the paradums, they would take these from this corner to the new customers. Not sure whether they will refill them whether they are significant seems empty, but the one we used, was put away into that corner and then ended up to the table next to us. It was exactly how we left it and without any refill.

And the waiters were way too eager to clear away all the dishes. One of them even cleaned all what was left in one dish into my plate, because he saw me as last spooning some into my plate. It wouldn't be bad if all these dishes weren't shared. Others might want some too. The same was with the bottles of beer. Each guy ordered a bottle of beer and one of them drank significant faster. So the waiters kept refilling his glass with all the bottles of beer on the table even after our friend told him not to fill his glass, but also the others. But once you told him so, another waiter did the same thing again.

Food was good, but the service could do much much better. Even when the food is delicious, but when you are rushed to finish your food and drinks, you couldn't enjoy the good food no matter how...

"Disappointing and Discriminatory Experience"

I was really looking forward to dining at this restaurant, but my experience was ruined by the dismissive and, frankly, discriminatory service. Even though we were the first customers there right when they opened, we were immediately questioned about having an appointment in an empty restaurant and then told we could only stay for an hour. This rigid and unwelcoming approach made us feel uncomfortable, and the attitude of the servers was off-putting.

As an Asian customer in an Asian restaurant, I expected a welcoming environment but instead felt singled out and dismissed. To make matters worse, the food was average. The fried rice was nothing special, tasting more like a simple rice pulao.

I hope management considers training staff to ensure every customer feels valued, regardless of their background. A dining experience should feel warm, welcoming, and inclusive, and unfortunately, this experience was far from that.

Reply for your Response : Your excuse about reservations is hollow—there were no other guests when I was there. Stop playing the victim and address the blatant racial discrimination I experienced. It's clear your staff, especially the male members, need proper training in respecting all customers. Asian patrons, like anyone else, deserve to be treated with dignity. Unfortunately, your dismissive attitude reflects poorly on your establishment and undermines the essence of Indian hospitality. I won't be dining here again, as no one should have to endure...
