Bitterly disappointed with the food, considering the venue and price:
Admittedly a wonderful location, 4th floor of Harrods with a view of nearby rooftops. That was where the excitement stopped.
Drinks: Drinks were small, half glasses and filled with ice too. Nothing special and not worth the price.
Starters: The “somewhere fatteh”, advertised as a popular dish was NOT fatteh. Filled with sour yoghurt AND no sign of tahini, garlic, chick peas or olive oil (stingy portions of olive oil a consistent theme throughout the meal). It was sour to the taste and unfortunately not worth the £25 price tag. A random bowl of yoghurt and eggplant with crisps sprinkled on top.
The “short ribs kibbeh”, again tasteless. Tiny balls of wheat with no seasoning and filled with meat that came out in one go, leaving you with an empty shell to finish the rest. Lacking in flavour and again, not worth the price.
The “angus hummus” - apparently made by a Lebanese chef (had to be asked at this point, as the food was tasteless) - was thick, almost stodgy, with little to no olive oil and exactly 2 pine nuts. On requesting additional olive oil, it was explained that this was standard prep for the hummus. Hmm … difficult to believe this was indeed made by a Levantine chef. The beef was okay, but very disappointed with the hummus - considering it’s £21 price tag. Even in other fine dining restaurants, the hummus has tasted far more delicious for the price. Two small pockets of bread served obvs not enough.
The “kale tabbouleh” - a dry disaster. Again, very little-to-no olive oil, a sprinkle of lemon and dry kale leaves. Not Mediterranean to the taste at all. Super disappointed with this salad. Best bit was the fried bread within.
Mini Sandwiches: Wagyu Arayes - 2 mini pieces - tiny and quite dry with the patties smaller than the crackers-bread used to sandwich it.
Wagyu Kebab Bao - decent taste, within a soft bao. Not worth the price but certainly the best thing we’d ordered.
Service: Waited 20minutes for the additional bread the waitor had said was coming, but didn’t show. Asked again but still no show. Little indignation and excuse making re the request for some olive oil - also poor show. No one checked to see if the meal was fine or if we required anything else. Considering it was a quiet time, again disappointing.
Total bill came to £173 … what a complete waste of money , space in our bellies and time waiting. Will never eat here again nor advise anyone else to try.
The above critique of the foods is as a couple that live in Qatar, have travelled across the World and one half being...
Read moreI hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my recent visit to located in Dubai Mall. While I have always enjoyed the ambiance and cleanliness of your establishment, my latest experience left much to be desired, particularly in terms of service and communication.
On my recent visit, I ordered a coffee that arrived late and, unfortunately, cold. This was quite disappointing, especially considering the reputation of your establishment for quality beverages. When I raised my concerns with the staff, I was met with an explanation rather than a solution, which felt inadequate. I specifically inquired about the manager to address my issue, but instead, another staff member came to speak with me. This seemed illogical, as I expected to speak directly with someone who could resolve the matter effectively.
Moreover, when I requested to speak with the manager again, I was sent yet another individual who seemed unprepared to handle my complaint. The lack of effective communication and customer service skills from the staff, particularly from the person claiming to be the manager, was quite concerning. I believe that customer complaints should be addressed with empathy and professionalism, which was sadly lacking during my visit.
While I must commend the quality of the food, the overall experience was overshadowed by the service issues. Good food can only go so far if customers are not treated with the respect and attention they deserve. I would strongly recommend that the staff receive additional training in customer service and communication skills, especially for those in managerial positions, to ensure that future patrons do not experience the same frustration.
As a loyal customer, it is disheartening to share this feedback, but I believe it is essential for the improvement of your establishment. As someone with experience in business and customer service, I believe that effective management is crucial for creating a positive dining experience.
Unfortunately, I have observed that the manager's approach to dealing with staff and customers lacks professionalism and empathy. This has not only affected the morale of the team but has also led to a less than satisfactory experience for patrons.
I strongly believe that investing in training for the manager could significantly improve interactions and service quality. A more supportive and engaging management style would undoubtedly enhance the overall atmosphere of the restaurant and contribute to...
Read moreHad a great experience here. After a twenty minute walk through the maze, we were met with a charming restaurant. The decor was tasteful while being comfortable and interesting to look at. I hate modern decor whose existence is too cause discomfort to the eyes and butt just to be different and interesting.
The service was amazing, the wait staff were always available and tried to make our experience enjoyable and tailored to our needs. Yusuf in particular was friendly. It's possible service was so great as it wasn't too busy, less than half the tables were filled on a late Thursday evening.
The food was expensive but quite enjoyable. The dishes were clearly Mediterranean based, but with twists and adjustments. Some of them ended up a wash with just being as "good" as their traditional counterpart, while others were outstanding and set a new standard for for the dish.
DRINKS The mint lemonade was excellent as it didn't shy on the mint (puree and while leaf). It was extremely sweet so you will only need one and will want another drink.
I didn't see alcohol on the menu, I'm guessing to be more Muslim targeted.
FOOD Original Hummus - great hummus. The most amazing hummus won't knock your socks off, but it sure is tasty. Clearly good ingredients and something I would order again (tho might try one of the flavored ones next time)
Eggplant moussaka - the best we'd ever had of this dish. I don't know what exactly it was, and it was a bit of a mush appearance, but the flavors and textures were great. With having so much bad eggplant in the past, this is my new standard of what a good eggplant dish should be.
Wagu bun - well cooked high quality meat on a bun with crispy onions, how can it be bad? The bread looked like it was going to be traditional puffy Asian bun, but it was a bit more pita like then expected. Still great.
Chicken and jalapeno fattah - a interesting dish with fried potatoes cubes and salt and vinegar chips. The jalapeno flavor was only there enough to taste, it didn't really provide any heat. It was a bit disappointing as we like spicy and were expecting more. Might be due to local the local British palet?
DESSERT Baklava - a big divergence from the traditional. An ice cream with baklava flavors and some filo dough. It was probably the weakest of the dishes. The warm white chocolate sauce saved the dish. There was a good rose flavor that was...
