Dissapointed to say the food was absolutely dreadful. I dont think I have ever eaten Indian food this awful. Even the very hospitable server seemed highly embarassed about it. I had ordered vegetable samosa as a stater only to realise that only one out of the two samosa where actually vegetarian! They did give me a new plate with correct samosa, however I honestly wished they would not have. The samosa tasted stale and old, the shell made from a strange type of spring roll wrapper which tasted just horrible and did not give the impression of a samosa at all. Sprinkeled on it was a few bits of parsley, which was even stranger. All of it accompanied by a horrible sauce, I honestly couldnt even tell what it was supposed to be but definitiely no chutney, and an absolutely bland salad consisting only of iceberg salad and 1 slice of tomato and cucumber. The main course was the worst though. I had orderd special vegetable fried rice which I would not even be able to call rice. Forgive me, but it was simply disgusting. Old broken rice, with stale and mushy veggies an oily gross texture and burnt pieces of egg. I have never had rice more awful then this. The taste pretty much made me sick. The yoghurt and almond sauce lamb curry was sadly a miss too. The lamb pieces where so dry and cooked with a bizzare tandoori spice, it was almost inedible even though it was served in sauce. The sauce itself was bland and devoid of any other ingredients to make the dish more interesting and of course topped with parsley again for some reason. Even the chai tea we orderd had no actually chai spices in it but was in fact just regular, bland black tea. All in all despite having a very understanding and polite server who seemed deeply saddened by the state of this food I can't give this anything higher then 1 star. Any processed indian premade meal you find in a regular grocery store has about 10 times quality of what I had...

Im sorry to say that this place is a poor representation of indian food, the service was ok as expected in a restaurant, the prices are above average for this type of food, but being in central london its expected, the portions are small and i think the chef pre cooks the breads and then just re heats as needed. My order was a tandoori chicken which consisted of two peices of chicken that was really small peices(i assume cheap as possible meat)... my curry was ok, nothing amazing but again very small served in a bowl that you would probably eat your cereal in, the nan bread was flat as a pancake and very greasy to the point where my hands needed drying with paper towel after picking it up, i asked for it to be replaced and it got replaced so fast and nearly same greasy feel that it leads to believe it is pre cooked and doused in butter when heated to give a impression of freshly cooked, after i paid £52 for a relativly small meal i spoke to the manager discreetly to save them the embaresment from other customers, he was really nice and offered me more food for free and tried to explain why the nan was oily, i feel let down as a paying customer and wish id read the reviews pre hand and...

This place is a scam. We ordered our food (tikka masala chicken and one vegetarian dish) for about 15 pounds each and one large bottle of still water. Then we got a question if we wanted rice and of course we do, was there an option for something else? You could skip it altogether I guess but not sure I’ve ever had that option anywhere else I’ve been too. The waiter came with a fancy bottle of water with a screw cap he opened and poured up. It was plain London tap water for 2.50 (you can’t mistake the taste). The food, when it arrived, I can give them that it was quick, was very bland, almost no taste except for the vegetarian dish which was border line inedible. We had one naan bread as well which was the thinnest one I’ve ever eaten but the taste was ok. When we got the cheque it ended up in 46.10 pounds including separate charge for the rice which is not a lot in absolute terms but for the food we got it was outrageous. I’d say if we paid half of that, it would have been sort of ok (even though I would never have gone there due to the quality of the food if I’ve known beforehand). At least it doesn’t, so far at least, look like we got...

I'm from America and curry is one of my favorite foods, so I knew I had to try the varieties in London. Server was amazing and very attentive. The atmosphere was incredibly fancy, which caused us some surprise with how well the prices were considering, and we definitely got a great amount of food for it all. Ended up being some of the best Indian food I ever had, if not the best! Couldn't help but close my eyes and lean back with almost every bite. I may be misremembering so forgive me, but I believe our server's name was Memar, and he was great. Would totally come here again whenever I am in the country.

At first glance the Art Deco entrance doesn’t seem like your typical Indian restaurant. And when you enter, the tables have white tablecloths and the room has a subdued atmosphere. The menu is very varied and starting with crispy poppadoms with four relishes was a treat. We had the lamb Rogan Josh, garlic chilli chicken, Bombay aloo nan and rice. Portions were such that we rapidly devoured all the dishes each of which had their own special flavour and heat. A cobra beer and a shared gulab jamun rounded off a delicious meal. Service was attentive. All in all a vert pleasant evening.

I have been searching for an Indian restaurant for three days and found the Chambeli near the British Museum. It was totally worth the search! We had garlic naan, paneer, and mango laasi to begin and then the vegetarian entree. We cleaned the plate! Azad served us. He saw that I was tired and suggested coffee. My husband explained that I was very picky about my coffee (lots of cream, lots of sugar, not much coffee). Azad brought a teeny cup of coffee, crystal sugar, and real cream. It was the BEST lunch and BEST coffee all trip.
