Went to this weathersppon one time for lunch, three times for breakfast while we were staying in waterloo. Service was good the first three times.
But I was very disappointed at my forth visit during breakfast hour.
I ordered coffee and toast ls at the counter. That young Indian lady was lovely. But when I asked for an extra cup for getting boiling water nicely . But her Indian manager only allowed her to give me a huge round beer glass!
That wasn't very nice of that manager. How could I got refused to get a cup for boiling water ??
I have been to dofferent whetherspoons wirh friend over hundreds time. it was my first time that staff/ manager refused to give me a cup for boiling water . I had to put boiling hot water in a small and thin glass at the end. I was worried that glass might break, but luckily,it didn't. It isnt safe to make customers to use this thin water glasses for hot water!
I wonder if this is London branches rule or not.
That manager looked angry too. Not sure if I got this kind of bad service because I am chinese ? Really didnt like the indian manager's attitude! We went to another whetherspoon the next day...
I really hope that company could offer customers cups for boiling hot water! We bought 2 hot drinks already! It wasn't like we just ask for a cup and get coffee...
Read moreDo NOT recommend. Had a terrible experience recently where I had gone in after work with some colleagues and we were treated so badly!
We had ordered 5 pints of beers (as there were five of us) and an extra had been brought over the by bar staff maybe 30-40 minutes later. We had informed the staff that we had definitely not ordered that pint and to take it back but he assured us it was fine, was a little dismissive and left it.
Of course, we naturally assumed it was complimentary so one of my colleagues enjoyed the left pint (he waited another half an hour before consuming). We then ordered more drinks and they came as ordered.
Upon leaving, the manager Marco, came hurriedly toward us and claimed that we had not paid for our drinks. We showed the proof of receipt that we had ordered online and each drink was accounted for. He then insisted that we had drank a pint that was not ours - when we explained what had happened and to check the cameras as we had informed staff AND waited before consuming, he then decided to kick up a fuss and get security to try forcefully remove us, which, as you can imagine worked extremely well with one security guard and 5 men.
We ended up just leaving but what terrible mismanagement and accusations from this manager due to their own incompetence....
Read moreWell I have to say, I don't think the reality of this pub matches anything I have read about it in the press. Just for those people who think anything bigger than their six table local is huge, this is NOT a mega pub - in any way, shape or form. Yes, it's large, it's not small, but calm down. Anyway, I quite liked the way it was presented: very industrial chic with lots of what feel warm and naked industrial bits and pieces, but in reality is a few uncovered bits and pieces and some less than thoroughly worked walls. I especially liked the video above the bar providing an unknown number of snippets of what is essentially local history - brilliant. My one downside on this place is the tables are very much shoved together with very little space to move and I would almost hesitate to bring any wheelchair friends I have to the venue without talking to them first. What I won't deny is that this is a spoons and as such, the place was clean, the staff were efficient and approachable and the breakfast was first class. The Guinness was also excellent. Just a quick addition, daft old git that I am didn't realise that there are MANY videos that play above the bar, not just one or two - see which...
