Shockingly Poor Service ā Avoid
We booked the rooftop from 5:00pm to 9:30pm and were told that, due to rain, the roof may or may not open, but weād know by 7:00pm.
At 6:30pm I asked the manager, Hannah, if she could simply check the rooftop to confirm whether it would be safe to open, so we wouldnāt waste time. She refused to do so and told me to come back at 7:00pm. When I did, Hannah dismissed me again, saying Iād have to wait because another party had arrived and āneeded to be taken care of first.ā
By then there were around 30 people waiting. The rooftop didnāt open until 8:00pm ā and by that point, half of our guests had already left, frustrated by the complete lack of communication and respect.
To make matters worse, Hannah told me not to speak to other bar staff because I was āinterruptingā them ā despite the fact that we were paying customers who had put down a deposit for the event. She even justified prioritising the other party by saying they had booked months in advance, as though that made our booking less important.
I even pointed out to Hannah that by sidelining our group of 30, the venue was actually losing money. Her response? A half-hearted apology followed by the excuse that the other party had to be prioritised because they had a booking ā as though that justified dismissing a large group who had arrived on time, put down a deposit, and were prepared to spend big.
The reality is the rooftop is small and would have taken less than five minutes to check. Instead, Hannah strung us along for over an hour, leaving what should have been a joyful farewell completely ruined. Most of our group left unhappy, many saying they would never return.
Customer service is the foundation of any successful venue. Hannahās behaviour was dismissive, unprofessional, and showed zero regard for paying customers. If management thinks this is acceptable, it explains why the experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen I first saw the Three Tuns it looked quant, quiet and unsuspecting. My companion and I stumbled across the Three Tuns and thought "what the heck it's 5pm somewhere, we'll give it a whirl." Entering the establishment, we were met with delicate lighting, spacious interior and a subtle elegance.
Artie & Naomi, our hosts for the day, greeted us with beaming smiles and warmth. While our ice cold peroni and smooth Camden hells were being poured, we were met with riveting conversation and calmness. While my companion may typically be unhinged and erratic, this cosy establiment calmed his volatility.
At this point of the review, soothing alcohol has been coursing through our blood stream which is of course welcomed to say the least but certainly has not detracted from the ambiance of the environment, although we may have disrupted the experience of other customers. But hey, maybe they enjoyed that.
As we sit here finalising this review for our very generous 10% off we can't help but reflect on the amazing hospitality Artie and Naomi provided and the experience has been great. The Three Tuns Aldgate is 5 star without question, but chapter 2 of this review is yet to be written so stay tuned because there may yet be a plot twist as my companion polishes his 3rd pint enters the realm of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA nice-ish pub in Aldgate, near Aldgate East station and a whole bunch of offices in the area. It's pretty much a traditional English pub, popular and get pretty busy after work with city workers.
The pub is arranged over 2 floors and there's limited space on either floor, making for a cosy little pub.
Downstairs there's a few pedestals in the pub mainly arranged around breakfast tables, some of with are facing the front window with a view of the street outside. Not that there's much to look at. Standing room is definitely at a premium. The interior is mostly dark wood stained panelling and furnishing.
I've been upstairs once when my company booked the whole floor for an event. There's a separate bar upstairs with most drinks available apart from perhaps lagers and beers. Although non of my colleagues complained, so I'm guessing that there's no less selection of drinks that can be found downstairs. The upstairs floor is maybe 30 metre square and can accommodate maybe 40 people seating. The staff kindly arranged for assorted seats for our event and I have to say that the mixture of benches, seats etc made for a quirky experience.
Aside from that the upstairs flow also had a couple of board games attached to the walls, although none of us...
