Great to see an ancient space in a modern building that has been done properly instead as an afterthought for required planning permission.
The section of wall and the museum around it are small and compact, but the way in which the first section is combined with the building from 1901 around it and the jacks and steel supports that have installed for the latest construction are a great way to display the context of the buildings.
The museum exhibits are well presented, especially the final cabinets that show artefacts from two individual homes and give a real sense of the families that lived there.
A video presentation also provides an introduction to the timeline of the buildings and city in the last eighteen hundred years.

How delightful to find such attention to detail in a free exhibition like this. I'll recommend the site to any of my friends who travel to London...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this!! For a FREE site to see in London, it's been done incredibly well. Copious finds from several eras are neatly displayed and described in a long glass cabinet, and there is a neat video on the story of this section of the ancient City Wall, from construction through to disuse and reuse, then finally to rediscovery and rebirth as a new visitor attraction. Friendly staff and an excellent cafe round it off. All that was missing was somewhere to buy a souvenir, guidebook, or other memento...
