The star ratings don't really have anything to do with the Barista School but I felt like feedback is really needed.
My in-laws spent £85.00 for this beginners class as a present to me and I'm astounded how bad the class was.
Ben our trainer so to speak opened up a presentation about where coffee comes from, the different regions and how they're made, absolutely fine no problems there.
We then began to taste the different regions to get a feel of different tastes, I was the only one without a glass of water sadly and didn't feel comfortable to shout out to get one from somewhere. The class had over the maximum amount of 8 as per website with only 5 machines. So we all had to share a machine with someone. My expectations coming in for the price surely you get your own machine to use.
I think it's quite difficult for Ben to get around everyone to help them all, so we started to learn about dilaling in. He shows us himself how he does it but there's just so many things to ask and learn and I didn't get a chance really to ask anything due to how busy he was. I wanted tips on how to make the best coffee possible but I only had his one example to go off and that was it. It's just not thorough enough at all.
We only went through steamed milk no alternatives. This topic itself was really difficult to master. I lost confidence after 3-4 goes. I just couldn't get it right and again it's all very rushed and no time really to go through it with me. Then it came to the point of pouring the drink and to be fair he did show a few times how to do this and do some basic latte art and that's something that takes practice so I understand that completely.
We did not do anything with regards to flat white or cappuccino's as advertised. No explanation at all.
The last sour point was he was very keen to leave the class, it was 4:15pm where he was saying if we carry on practicing sometimes you can make it worse rather than making good latte. It's meant to be 3 hours as advertised, so 45 minutes short.
We did get a free bag of beans at the end and a certificate where one lady didn't get hers.
The experience overall was dreadful, the whole point for me was to master making coffee, feel comfortable with it. I feel nothing of the sort. It's a very expensive class where you get no time at all to individually learn off the mentor. I genuinely know nothing more than I did coming in, and the certificate I received feels fake.
Gutted because I was really looking forward to...
Read moreI’ll be honest if it wasn’t for the poor customer service I wouldn’t have left a rating I came in here recently and ordered two drinks with my partner.
Being a regular at the Liverpool branch I thought I’d go to the one in Manchester as I really love the coffee from 200*.
Being quite honest the coffee was absolutely lovely and the food was perfect too just like I’ve had in other branches , but the actual customer service genuinely dampened my mood like no other.
The guy who took our order was lovely and patient, my partner has autism and struggles with feeling under pressure however did seem to have a few issues understanding him which is fine and we were told to sit down and wait for our food which was fine, this is normal.
I then hear what seems to be our drinks order being shouted which confused us both with the previous knowledge of us waiting sat down, I went up to double check and just simply asked are these my orders and the girl just looked at me and puffed her cheeks and eye rolled and shrugged , her co worker asked her to mention which drink was which as I have an intolerance to milk and she just did the same thing and had to get my partner to test them, the co worker seemed quite fed up with her too.
Fair enough if she was having a bad morning but you don’t take it out on random people.
Lovely coffee and food though literally no complaints about...
Read moreMe and my son had a fantastic time on the Beginners Barista Course. So much fun and we learned loads!
At first, we thought we were going to be late because of the terrible weather. So I called ahead and spoke to Rhys, who was fabulous! So lovely! Assured us not to worry and said he’d pass a msg on to the trainer to expect us 20 mins late.
Luckily we arrived just on time. Dale is an incredibly energised and engaging teacher. Very thorough, patient and extremely knowledgeable. We learned so much from his theory. We failed spectacularly at the smelling section. But with his help we absolutely smashed dialing in, extraction and were even able to produce a little latte art, with his help and guidance!
The course was really fun and we felt so accomplished at the end, practicing our new skills.
All credit to Dale!
We wholeheartedly recommend the course! It’s well worth the money. Plus we received a bag of their signature beans as I gift at the end… sadly we left them in a Teppanyaki restaurant round the corner, after enjoying a delicious sushi lunch. But we’ve only ourselves to blame for that.
My son’s seriously considering moving on the intermediate courses in the future.
Overall, a very inspiring day. Thanks to...
