An anti-climat
We were really looking forward to coming to Climat after hearing good reviews but we left feeling really underwhelmed.
When we were seated we were explained the menu really quickly and we’re sort of rushed to order 5-6 dishes between 2. It was New Year’s Eve and we had a sense that the staff were stressed about tables even tho it was partially empty throughout our 1.5 hours we were seated.
Our waiter sarcastically said we had to order everything in one go, we laughed as we thought he was joking but we actually had to order everything in one go and were told the chef’s decided when the dishes came out. Fair enough so we ordered 1 starter, 3 sides and 2 mains. These came out one at a time so it felt a bit awkward having to share everything when they didn’t feel like sharing dishes. In all honestly we only enjoyed 1 dish which was the carrots (recommend) but everything else felt under seasoned, and mushy and we just didn’t get the concept.
The table we were sat at sadly had a leak above us, we explained this to our waiter and he said it was above his pay grade jokingly - but after that all the staff kept walking passed the wet floor and looked and didn’t do anything about it. This could’ve been a hazard especially as it was dripping onto a light fixing.
The food to us was unfortunately pretty average. Nothing to shout home about. When the best and only dish out of six we liked were the carrots, it says something.
Overall we wont be running back - we didn’t enjoy the food and atmosphere kinda ruined it for us but understand it was NYE hopefully if we ever return in future things may have changed...

As a restaurant manager myself, I have high standards when going elsewhere, especially when a restaurant has a price tag this high.
My boyfriend and I went here for a quiet birthday meal (which was even noted on the booking) this was the first let down, not even a little "happy birthday" comment, I even mentioned to the staff it was my birthday and no fuss was made at all.
The menu apparently changes often and I think we caught it on a bad day as most of the dishes were fish based, so as somone who doesn't like seafood I was left with little to pick from.
This restaurant is a "tapas style" restaurant where you are recommended to order 4-5 small dishes. Each one is about £6/7. The wine was good, so this was nice. Main meals are at the bottom of the menu and start off at £36 and are told that you have to be prepared to wait up to an hour for these... so it was obvious we weren't going to order any of these.
We ordered, and the first dish we got was the bread and olives, which were honestly the most flavoursome items we got. The rest of the food came out in dribs and drabs. the last dish they completely forgot about and had waited almost an hour for that. Table sat next to us with about 5 people on, got all of their food before us, I wasn't happy about this. They also messed up and gave the food meant for the table behind us.
Bill came to £175 and left unsatisfied, asked for the 12.5% service charge to be taken off and left a cash tip instead, highly doubt we...
Read moreBased on the hype, location and prices I was expecting a significantly better experience, atmosphere and a nicer looking venue.
Starters were tasty but all dishes were not designed for sharing as we were told on arrival. Most disappointingly, all mains were overpowered by bitter or acidic flavours. Meats had overly-charcoaled/flamed bitter taste rather than smokiness to them, salty veg and acidic jus. We were particularly disappointed with venison which I was most looking forward to and we left till last. It came as a small portion of three slices. It actually looked perfect and juicy but it completely lost any meat or gamy flavour, to the point that the bitter aftertaste lingered in our mouths till we got home.
The staff were attentive though and the sommelier recommended us a really lovey wine from a very impressive and extensive wine selection. So I didn’t want to leave a 1 star review for this reason, and usually I would say something to staff if I wasn’t happy with the dish but there were too many things that were off. We just wanted to pay and move on.
Overall, we left still hungry, disappointed and our clothes and skin lingered of smoke. Glad we weren’t going out after as even the taxi driver said we smelt of smoke and clothes had to go straight in the wash.
The bill came to £200 between thee, including a glass of bubbly, bread, 3 starters, 3 mains and a...
