Edit: re-visited 14/12/2024 Burger was fine, fries were floppy and lukewarm (either they've been sitting a while or cooked at too low a temp), fries are much less generous than they once were as well where you would get 2 cups worth of the fries in the bag you now receive about 1 cup and a third probably. Was same at another local branch so this is likely across all branches not just this one! Refillable drink makes the drink less value being almost £5 you need at least 3 refills to make it comparable to other food places prices.
Once was decently priced for what you get is costing marginally less than an sit down restaurant (non fast food) so not sure is as good for value as used to be now. Cost £17 for little cheeseburger, small fries and refillable drink so okay for a treat but is pushing on the more pricey side for fast food.
Old review from 2017 for comparison: A nice place that reminds me of what burger joints used to be like in the days before fast food was a thing. Wait times still way faster than a restaurant, so I'd still say it was fast - maybe 5-7 minutes or so which is reasonable for a raw patty to cook.
Patty is thicker than BK and McDonalds, and place is like is high end version of both. Definitely worth a visit at least once. Burgers taste nice (but since everything else is fresh and authentic, I'm at a loss as to why processed cheese is still used instead of real cheese). It is pricier than McDs / BK but burgers and fries were nicer. Fries actually tastes like a proper chips and burger tastes pretty good.
Drink is expensive but refillable so you can fill up as many times as you like. I had little cheeseburger (little= single patty), small fries (like a medium at McDs) and refillable soda drink for £10. Much cheaper than a sit in burger restaurant like Handmade Burger or Reds, which I average £16-20, so I think it's reasonable for what you get.
Doesn't seem to have problems with getting seats in daytime, and staff keep eating area wiped and...

Price for two: £15-30
Pros: 1.Classic burgers, hotdogs, fries and shakes. Nothing else. 2.Free refill for all sodas. 3.Patties and hotdogs cooked to perfection. 4.Generous serving of fries with the right amount of crispness. 12 fillings and sauces: all free!
Cons: 1.No kids menu, free toys; etc. 2.All food served in brown bags i.e. no trays; could be inconvenient for some people. 3.No table service whatsoever, even if there's a long wait to get your food. 4.The wait can get long during busy hours (I waited 14 minutes once)
If it weren't for my wife, I'd go eat at Five Guys everyday. They have brought the burger (with a real patty) back to the masses. They have stripped everything else from a fast-food menu, except fries, hotdogs and shakes. There's no confusing menu of 67 mediocre, unexciting, poorly conceived items, many of which are brand tie-ins. Instead, you only get one burger and one hotdog (with either cheese, bacon of both), 2 sizes or fries (salty or cajun), 4 flavours of shakes and one size of drink...and they all taste amazing!!
Standing at the counter, watching the chef prepare the burgers and the fry guy/girl tossing huge scoops of fries in your bag is a treat all by itself.
And do you miss the days when they'd give you an empty soda glass and you could fill it up at the fountain, as many times as you wanted? And do you miss the ketchup and mayo station? It feels so good to be able to do these things again!
It is the renaissance of the classic...
Read more🍔FIVE GUYS. All the hype in Malaysia over the new branch that opened in Genting Highlands, where people queue in the morning and finally enter the burger chain restaurant in evening! When I saw this store in Newcastle's central area, I just HAD TO TRY IT.
🦌'Seperti Rusa Masuk Kampung' (Malaysian Idiom for newbies like us entering a brand new place) That was exactly me, with my eyes wide open. The experience was amazing! 😂
🧀I ordered the Classic Cheeseburger - I had the option of choosing ANY 15 toppings. I chose all of it. Haha.. It was really really delicious. The beef patties were rich and juicy, the sauces were amazing.
🥛As for the Milkshakes, we had the option of choosing ANY 10 mix-ins. You could choose all of them if you wanted. I'd say that the milkshakes are lovely, but very much on the sweet side.
🍟Fries with the sauces, especially with the MALT VINEGAR, was a favourite of mine. Something our Malaysian Fast Food chains should consider implementing.
Lovely to have experienced Five Guys Burgers and Milkshakes! 😁😁 I wonder if it's the same experience in Malaysia.
*I must mention that Mafalda and Shawn, both staff at Five Guys, were the most accommodating staff, which added greatly to the 5 star experience. Kudos to them for being the best!
Cheers from...
