Came with my fiance after picking him up from the airport (he is Swedish and we had a week booked in Nottingham) I was really excited to show him this place. We had just got into Nottingham after a very stressful trip, trying to find a place to just sit and have a coke (neither of us drink alcohol). Just happened to walk past this place and was excited for this to be the first place we visited at the start of our trip. We went up to the bar to order 2 cokes. The two people behind the bar asked for my ID (I said no problem at all as I am used to this despite being 24 I look quite young) so I took out my proof of age card and the woman proceeded to scrutinise it and then started looking on a device to prove its authenticity. Seemed a tad extreme and over dramatic when im just ordering 2 glasses of pop. She then asked to see my partners ID (he is 26 and clearly looks it) he usually carries his passport but had left it in his other bag and was very apologetic and upset when he couldn't find it. We were then told very rudely "to leave the premises". I have been to this place in the past where it has been past 9pm and nobody asked to see ID or cared what I was drinking (despite once again ONLY DRINKING COCA COLA because I DONT DRINK ALCOHOL). We were very polite to the servers and honestly I am disgusted with the way we were spoken to and I honestly do not understand why we were not allowed to just sit and drink 2 glasses of coke at 2pm in the afternoon. There wasn't a soul in the place when we got there anyway. Very bad first impression for my partner and very upsetting and confusing for us both. Needless to say I wont be visiting this place again and neither will any...
Read moreVery disappointing experience here. Ordered drinks and unfortunately I, one out of the party of 3 30 year olds didn't have ID. Were told to leave, refused a refund and refused to let me sit with the rest of the group with a soft drink.
The member of staff, one of the managers, stood there smirking at us when it was clear we were upset. We were not belligerent or rude, but were obviously frustrated at how we'd been treated and that the manager seemed to be getting off on it. After a few minutes she decided that she could in fact refund my pint, but suggested I stand outside on my own while my two friends stayed to finish their drinks as it is "an over 18s venu", once again smirking as she said that. She again refused to refund the other two drinks. Maybe have someone checking ID's at the door or dont have the option to order drinks from the table if that's the case.
Looking at some of the other reviews it looks like quite a few other people have had issues with the rudeness of the staff and "the lady with glasses and purple hair" pops up a lot. She was likely the one who served us.
I would like to reiterate that we were all at least 30. I have a full beard and absolutely do not look under 25. It was the only pub we went to that day where I got ID'd. Even so, it's not so much that we were refused service, but the way in which we were spoken to and the fact that they essentially stole our money by refusing a full refund.
I suggest she receives training on how to properly deal with situations such as this and not be so rude to her customers. I would also like to be contacted with information regarding the outcome of...
Read moreIf the cocktails & good had been a little better, this would have got 5 stars from me, mainly for the atmosphere, the decor & staff friendliness. The place is epic, with great attention to detail 👌🏻 really was worth a visit, my goth daughter LOVED IT. We went for some cheeky day-cocktails which were fantastically priced at bogoff and there were SO MANY to choose from! Perhaps I made a bad choice with the Envy cocktail which just tasted like drinking toothpaste unfortunately (it looked cool though!) My daughters was much nicer, I can't remember the name but it was off the 7 deadly sins menu & was a mix of JD & Amaretto 😋. Only had a quick bowl of chips so can't comment too much, only that they were what looked like deep fried oven chips. However, they had an abundance of sauces etc to choose from so clawed their way back there. The only thing I will say is that there was a slight odor when walking in, same sort of odor as Walkabout; where you can tell it is a nightclub at night but also open in the day. Like a kind of fusty smell but it wasn't as bad downstairs, could be the carpet upstairs with a toll of having drinks spilt on it maybe. It didn't spoil our experience though & we had fun taking pics of the decor, the designers should be very proud of...
