We went here for a Christmas meal with friends, and were unfortunately disappointed with the food.
We have been here before and enjoyed our experience that time at the pub, myself and my partner had gone for a couple of drinks. On that occasion the pub was rather busy, with a lovely atmosphere, staff were attentive and friendly and it was a lovely setting.
Unfortunately on our last visit it appeared it was slightly under staffed (but I understand given the situation), and the head chef was not in either. The drinks were lovely, and the mulled cider was incredibly morish, however there was a delay for the food. Myself and my partner had ordered the vegan burger which was 15£, all burgers come with a side salad and chips, however the chips are not vegan so we paid 15£ for a burger and salad which seems a little steep. My partner asked for some vegan sides as an alternative which we were charged additionally for (I understand that these items, peas and broccoli, maybe more expensive than chips but it still seemed a little unfair). As mentioned there was a wait for food but that is understandable, the burger itself was tasty and was a nicely 'loaded' burger. Some of the staff members were incredibly apologetic of the delay which was kind of them and were attentive, however other staff members were not the same, chucking sauce packets on the table as they went passed (when we had asked for some condiments) and not even saying a word, in this instance it felt rather awkward and not at all friendly or a nice service.
The pub itself was lovely, and again the atmosphere was lovely, nice customer base and decorated well.
We are sure the last experience was a one off and was due to being a little strained with staff numbers, and appreciate it can be a more demanding time of the year. I would advised reviewing the Vegan Burger side options as that was a...
Read moreSo we came to oxford as a last minute get away and day/evening out, we decided to pop in as it was the first place we really seen for a burger place/vibe. Don’t know why but this women had a heavy attitude problem towards me and a friend, straight being iffy when ordering food. Not only did she have an attitude, she also had very stinky breath. On the drinks menu it says you can have a pitcher for £10, so I asked kindly and she responded with we are not doing pitchers at the moment. My friend then asks her, “so when will you be doing them”. She has a slight pause and responds with don’t know. We then go to get a 2nd drink but go up to a different member of staff. After watching this member of staff adjust his hair in the reflection of the coffee machine for 70 seconds, he eventually served us. He was a nice person and we asked if they did pitchers, suprise suprise, not shocked in the slightest they did. When the food was served as well she came over with some attitude, and moved my hat off the table like it was a disease. Not only that but to have the cheek to say my burger had no egg on it but fact I ordered and egg not just an egg but a free ranched egg. Not going to lie it is was a solid egg. Rate the eggs not the staff. When seeing other people’s meals being brought out, we realised that they hadn’t been very generous with chips portions compared to other meals. Just for everyone else’s sake, STAY AWAY FROM A WOMEN AROUND 5”6, WEARS HER HAIR IN A PONYTAIL, WEARS GLASSES, AND IS BELEIVED TO BE FRENCH!!! She also cleans the floor half arsed by using her shoe to move some kitchen paper...
