Ive been to this place on two occassions now and both times i was surely disappointed. The staff are rude manoured and gormless to say the least. The one good thing about this place is it is open all night. Food is viable if your seriously drunk but apart from that avoid eating from this place unless its a last resort. My burger was not cooked properly I had to throw it away.

Jake's is the dream greasy spoon. No finesse, airs or graces, just hot, supremely tasty, artery-hardening food, the stuff of cold-weather cravings. The melts and cheesy fries are particularly good. Because the food is prepared to order, it can take awhile, so we find it best to telephone ahead. Here's pictures of the wall menu.

Got a spicy chicken sandwich. The chicken was alright, had a good crunch but the spice and flavor just wasn't all there. Shame as I heard so many good things about this place. Willing to go back and try a proper burger next time and maybe update my review.

I'm sorry for the long review but I feel this needs to be said.

Let me start by saying I have lived in Plymouth for 5 years and I have always enjoyed Jake's at the end of the night.

However I have an issue with the fact they always, ALWAYS forget the salad. Now this is not always an issue as once the say "chicken tikka melt" and I always question "with salad?", if they have made a mistake they will normally rectify this by adding salad to my already made baguette (which I'm not particularly a fan of, but when drunk, it will do) or making me a fresh one correctly with salad.

However tonight I was treated as if I was so drunk I couldn't speak, or, as a 6 year old.

After ordering my chicken tikka melt WITH SALAD, I was offered one without. I told the guy offering it to me that it was supposed to be with salad. He said that he was not told that so it wasn't his fault. Then the guy who took my order piped up and said "actually mate, you never said with salad". I have ordered the same baguette, with salad, every time I had visited Jake's, for the last 5 years. He then told me very angrily that I definitely didn't order salad and that I needed to "stop being so lairy" (I have been out with some friends for a few drinks in Air! and I am by no means drunk). Myself and the two international friends I was with were very shocked by this and they were surprised at the way English people treated their customers.

Instead of rectifying the situation (which would never happen if they actually paid any attention whilst orders were being made) as they normally do, the guy who made my baguette in the first place decided it would be funny to make a huge amount of salad in a separate box for me, whilst shouting sarcastically "do you want salad with your salad mate?" He then chucked my baguette onto the box of salad and thrusted it at me.

As I left, both the guy who took my order and the one who made it were both sniggering and smiling to each other. I was not convinced my food hadn't been messed with in anyway so I decided to throw it away after I left, leaving my wholly unsatisfied and disgusted at the way they treated me.

I know the staff at Jake's often have to deal with very drunk and potentially difficult customers but that does not excuse the way I was treated. I will not be returning when I can just go to caffine club and be treated well, get better food and enjoy a drink...

I wouldn’t usually leave a bad review as I work in customer service (retail) and understand how difficult it is. Today, (18/02/2022) storm Eunice is at its peak so I understand it is dangerous to drive or go out unnecessarily, hence why I looked at ordering food… barely any restaurants or takeaways are delivering today understandably and I had already placed another order with a different restaurant only to be cancelled on. Your food is usually great and have used your takeaway in person a lot before and never been disappointed. Anyway the food took almost two hours to arrive with little to no update. It wasn’t cold and was not bad but the fried eggs and beans were squashed together. Hash browns and sausages along with the mushrooms were alright I guess. When the driver eventually turned up he was rude and grumpy and was driving aggressively and dangerously. He said to me “yes we do deliver but today it’s advised you don’t drive or go out” in quite a rude tone. I apologised even though I did not need to and I said “thank you, I appreciate it” he then replied with under his breath “I’m sure you do…” then slammed his car door and sped off. I also noticed suspiciously that a small container of noodles with a fork had been thrown onto the pavement in front of my house and it seems as though this could have come from the driver. If it’s such a problem why have deliveries as available on Just Eat during a storm? Or just close? It is not my fault as a paying customer that you chose to make deliveries available during a nationwide storm, I did not have food in and did not want to go out in it which is why I ordered? I assumed your drivers didn’t mind delivering at their own risk but what do you want me to do about it? There’s no need to moan and be rude to a paying customer so I shall not be ordering from you again. I get working in this is hard but just get on with it and don’t blame...

Many 'a drunken nights out will end here and almost always will inspire the hammered adventurer inside. With great service and a friendly wink, wether it be on your way home, to the after party or to the morning mistake this place will always provide happiness no matter what your next step. Just don't be a douche inside because it doesn't end well and the staff don't deserve it.

I was originally going to give 4 stars, mostly because I don't like to give 5 star reviews. However I couldn't think of a genuine reason apart from...
