Awful customer service. Avoid to all cost if you're looking for the well known kindness of the people of Thailand.
I ordered explicitly "King Prawns Thai Green Curry" as a main, but chicken Thai green curry was brought instead. The waiter instead of being apologetic for his obvious mistake, he insisted that I ordered chicken instead of king prawns, although it was confirmed by my friends on the table that I was right since ordered king prawns. After ignoring me, he told me that he will bring some prawns aside for an extra charge, but of course I didn't accept it since I emphasised that I ordered king prawns not chicken. He continued being extremely rude, and insisting that I did order chicken. I spoke to the manager who didn't care about this situation, even he saw everything from the bar and didn't do anything at all. At the end, I cancelled my order, because I didn't feel comfortable ordering in a place where I've been treated so bad as they did. When the bill arrived, another kind waitress at least aplogised on behalf of the other guy who took my order completely wrong, and gave us £15 off the bill, although I was still hungry and with the bad taste of being treated like this. In terms of food quality-wise, being totally transparent, the starter was OK, but the special Pad Thai ordered by my wife was lack of prawns, flavour and too much eggs in it.
In general, very disappointing experience here and I won't definitely come back again to...
Read moreA great place to eat in Reading. I highly recommend it. There are many choices for having a meal in Reading near the Caversham Bridge. Several on both sides of the bridge. I have tried many of them when I was visiting. I tried this particular one the first time and came back 3 times in a week. It is located at the southwest corner of A4155 and Randolph Road. The only parking seems to be street parking but it is easily walkable for the area. It is a very nice pub-like atmosphere with Tables in front, inside, and out back of the building in a courtyard. The seating is a variety of options from 4-seat arrangements and bench seating to large outdoor picnic styles under a tent. The inside is wood floors with a bar. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The food and drink came out quickly. They have a large menu with a lot of variety. I tried the Sunday roast dinner, the burger, and something like Peking Duck. Every meal I got was delicious. I tried their cider and it was also excellent. Overall, it was excellent every time that I went there. I highly recommend this to anyone in the area hungry for a good meal or looking for a nice place to...
Read moreI rarely get chance to come here, but when I do I love the atmosphere, the drinks and the food is excellent, well priced and a good portion. The place is run by some Thai people. I love Thailand, spent a few years running a business buying and selling from Thailand. I tell you this because Thai's are renowned as being beautiful, friendly and smiley people. Sadly the missing star is because there are few smiles and friendly welcomes at this establishment.
In their defence I believe this to because they are running both restaurant and pub. The owners have been hardened to the town pubbing experience. I was witness to the landlord, quite rightly, dealing with some loud and boisterous 20 something guys who arrived with no tops on. He did it firmly and well and it reminded me that this place is a popular pub as well as restaurant.
As well as being firm and strong like any good landlord should be, if they could just remember to smile, welcome and possible talk to their customers, new and regulsr they might find that they enjoy their working day a little more and gain 5 stars from...
