A lovely place to eat with great food along the Thames. There are a lot of places to eat near the Caversham Bridge in Reading, UK on both sides of the river. I decided to try this particular restaurant located on the southeast side of the bridge. If you are driving, you may have to find an alternate place to park since their lot seems a little small. It is a stand-alone building that looks like a converted house. I had noticed it on my walk along the Thames walking path that it is next to. They have seating inside and out. Both offer great views of the Thames across the walking path. The entrance is on the street side, the south side of the building. The inside is very nicely appointed with hardwood-type floors, linen tablecloths, formal chairs, a very pretty ceiling, and large windows looking out on the river. The menu has a wide variety of Indian-style dishes. I tried the Tika Massala, naan, and the pappadom. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food took a little longer than I expected to come out but it was delicious. I would highly recommend this place if you want a beautiful place to take friends to have a great meal in a nice atmosphere. Enjoy!

Excellent and satisfyingly spicy curry with friendly if at times slightly chaotic service. The veggie Vindaloo and Dhansak were extremely tasty and the only issue for the carnivores was slightly chewy lamb and the chicken was succulent. Tasty Onion Bhaji/samosa starters, decent portions. True, we had to make a slight effort to capture a bill at the bitter end but this only involved a little encouragement at the bar. Great views on a summer evening but probably only if you reserve an earlyish table. Plenty of parking spaces on a Saturday night.

Decent Indian restaurant. The food was pretty good, no complaints there. Service is excellent as expected in most restaurants. The view of the river and Cavesham Bridge is beautiful and definitely made the visit that bit more special. It was a little too quiet for our liking, but it was a midweek evening. It also has plenty of parking on-site which is a bonus

I am writing this review in connection with an incident that took place inside Riverside Spice on Sunday 27th December 2015 at Approximately 12:15pm. My wife and I decided to go to Riverside Spice for lunch with our two-year-old son. We have been regular customers for almost three years and have always been very fond of the food on offer. Prior to our visit, we verified lunch serving times online between 12:00 and 14:30. We arrived at approximately 12:05pm. Upon entering the premises, we were approached by a member of staff who did not say anything. I asked him for a table for two. He then asked if we wanted the buffet. I told him we'd like to order from the menu. He then proceeded to ask me what exactly I wanted from the menu. I replied we'd like to order the Biryani mix. He then stated that Biryani is part of the buffet as standard. I told him that's great then we'll have the buffet. We proceeded to enter the dining area to find a suitable table. The place was empty and we were the first customers that afternoon. We found a suitable table but the employee who greeted us at the door told us not to sit where we were about to sit and asked us to sit on the only table in the whole dining area where knives, forks, cloths and table flowers were missing. I thought that was strange but I did not question it and we gracefully sat down at this table. He then went on and got knifes/forks and cloths and just threw them on the table. Five minutes later the same employee came back with menus and stated that Biryani was not part of the buffet and that we would need to order from the menu instead. I said okay that's fine so we started to look through the menu. I then went to the buffet area to check the labels of what selections were available to see if it was worth changing our minds and go for the buffet instead as that was more value for money. I found the buffet selection and variety very enticing and wanted to go back to the table to discuss this with my wife. However, upon my return to the table, the same employee was already at the table asking if were ready to order. I asked him if he could please wait five more minutes as I needed to discuss what selections were available at the buffet with my wife. He then proceeded to say with a terrible attitude "You are wasting our time, why are you wasting our time, you told me you were ready to order" As soon as he said that I told my wife let's just leave. So, I told the employee we would like to leave. He proceeded to take the menus off the table and said that's fine you can leave but why have you wasted our time. I told him he was being very rude. He then said that I was rude for wasting his time. I asked him if I could speak to the managed. He then shouted and said he was the manager and got real close in an intimating way as if to say "what are you going to do?" I asked him for his name and he refused to give me his name. As we were leaving we noticed another employee watching this whole encounter at the buffet area but did not interfere or say anything. I asked him again for his name. He asked me why I wanted his name. I told him because I'm going to complain. I asked him if he spoke to all customers this way and asked if he cared that he'd lost a long term customer forever. He replied that he doesn't speak to customers this way, only time wasting customers and that he didn't care if we ever returned. We then left the premises very shaken and feeling we've been discriminated against. We could not believe what had just happened that this person who claims to be the manager spoke to us in that manner. We have been regular customers for almost three years and never have we come across this employee throughout our visits. This incident has not only ruined our day but my wife was crying throughout our...
