On our adventure on the underground and Glasgow centre we got chatting to a chap in the Butterfly & Pig who on spotting our accent as being "Smoggies" from Middlesbrough, gave us loads of recommendations as he used to work in the steel works on the River Tees. One with it being over the road from the Premier Inn was "why have you not been to Sharkeys". It came highly recommended by our vaping new friend. It is hidden away under the railway arches. The staff were so friendly and a fantastic pint of Guinness. The music was bang on, my cup of tea. The place when I sneaked a look around the corner was huge. Gutted we missed the food as that came recommend by our man too. No stars for the food because we did not have any. Food, I do believe stops at 6pm the beer does not. Read moreI wouldn't hesitate in giving five stars directly to the staff. Always welcoming, always professional and deserving of high praise indeed. Credit where it is due. It's the staff that can lift a bar up from being a good one to a great one, and this is a great bar.
The pub grub menu is not only value for money, but of an exceptionally high quality. There's a wide range of beers and spirits available. And in short if I resided nearby I'd make it my local.

Read moreMy wife Janette held her retirement party in Sharkeys last night. Wow. What a night. Fiona prepared the most incredible buffet which more than comfortably covered the 80-90 guests. The staff were fantastic and the night ran very smoothly. The band were brilliant. And Isa came over on 2 or 3 occasions to make sure everything was ok. Fantastic.
