Gloria's Latin Cuisine — Restaurant in Addison

I've been to 3 different Gloria's locations and I can say this one was by far the worst. We arrived on Valentine's Day and were surprised that barely anyone was there. It must have been for good reason because the food was mediocre whereas at most locations it is outstanding, and the service was incredibly poor to boot, even though it wasn't busy.

I want to give a small amount of grace because we did have a new server, but there was another server teaching him the whole time, who seemed to know even less than the new server, and kind of shredded any graces I would give.

My two major issues involved my drink and my meal order. When ordering my drink, I asked for the same thing as I have at other places, which is the sparkling Margarita. I usually ask for no peach puree as I prefer it just as it is with the prosecco, but this time I was asked if I wanted a different flavor, which I just said they can use sour mix, seltzer, lime juice or whatever is easiest to make it like a "normal, classic margarita", just with the prosecco bottle with it. I was brought a classic margarita, and at first understood the confusion, so I just asked if I could get either the drink remade, or just a bigger glass and a prosecco bottle since I really wanted was the bubbles. I was told that they couldn't accommodate either unless I bought another drink and finished the first one. I would understand if I ordered completely wrong, but they obviously understood the miscommunication as we were both pointing at the sparkling margarita on the menu, and we discussed removing the peach. Very frustrating enounter overall just by itself.

I decided to just drink the drink, as it wasn't worth discussing any further, but the issues persisted as our food arrived. I had ordered the Enchiladas Verdes which read on the menu as "Three Shredded Chicken enchiladas". My friend had ordered enchiladas with spinach inside. When the meal arrived, both our enchiladas were only spinach. Once again, the server is new and so I can semi understand the mistake, however when I called them both over again, the older server argued that enchiladas verde did not contain chicken and I'd once again have to purchase another meal if I wanted chicken. This time I was not going to have it, so I pulled up my phone and showed the older server exactly what it said on the menu. I was begrudgingly given another meal, and the older server decided he would take on our table for the rest of the stay. This really didn't make us feel better as honestly, the new employee wasn't the issue. Both mistakes were totally understandable and easy to fix, it was the poor attitude of the trainer, which honestly is even worse because it's teaching the new employee awful ways of interacting with guests.

the last note I'll mention is a large part of the frustration being increased through the meal is that each time we had an issue we would have to flag down our servers. There was no check-up or conversation they would try to come have with us at any point, even to check up on my fixed meal.

I really love the food at most Gloria's locations. And I feel like the food may have been a bit better if it wouldn't have been such a frustrating ordeal the whole time. Ultimately it seems like this location isn't as popular as others I have been to, and if the service is like this every time I understand why. The banana tamales didn’t taste as I am accustomed. My sister ordered salmon chimichurri salad. She requested it without cheese. The salad, to my dismay had cheese throughout the salad, which posed an unpleasant eating experience. We have visited several of Gloria’s restaurants. We have always been satisfied. I reported my dissatisfaction to the manager, Jacob. His response was that he hadn’t had any other complaints about the tamales and would not be able to replace them with something else should I return, but would put my sister’s name on a list for another salad. This response was insensitive. I don’t believe that I will patronize the restaurant further. During this pandemic, eating out is a privilege and to have the monies to afford the meal is even more of a privilege.

I decided to revisit the restaurant on yesterday, June 3, 2025. This was at my sister’s request. It had been quite a while since our last visit. The food was not the same. My sister enjoys the salmon chimichurri salad and the plantains. I also like the plantains. I ordered one banana tamale with the hope that it would be tasty. Additionally, I ordered the combination plate . Both food items , the tamale and chicken enchiladas were very salty. I had substituted the fajita taco for an additional enchilada. We wanted to dine in, but the wait was going to be 30 minutes. We went to the bar, however, it was too cold in the restaurant to remain. We decided to take out. It was late when we left the restaurant. My sister and I saved our meals for the next day. I shared my meal with a co-worker for lunch on today. She also complained of the saltiness of the food. Is been a long time since I come back to this phenomenal place totally renew from inside to outside and we make the best choice to have a good time from the beginning to the end we really annoyed our meal all the staff was phenomenal included the chef who has able to make our dinner very unique and this is why I give five star ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review

Our server digo was very attentive and professional from the beginning he make some recommendation we ask for the tamales as appetizer and he did it well the description, we try and was super tasty my wife order a chicken soup and she loved, even when we ask to modified a little for her diet restriccións which was blend, thanks chef, she loved it and it makes me so happy 🙏. My main course was a Ribeye Nancy. The temperature was cook medium and was perfect very juicy and tender with sauted onions,green beans and garlic well presented with chimichurri sauce. I love it 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 My side was a fried plantains omg was the best choice and finally dessert 🎂 bananas flambee with vanilla ice cream and hits of shave orange 🍊 super delicious. Very very well done. Now I now why this company is one of the best in the business. Decor super nice we had a filling to be dining on a super nice steak house. Everything was superb. I wish I could rate this place with more stars ❤️ all the team of gloria's make our time incredible 🙏🙏🙏 is a honor to be a Latino and represent our culture the best way they do.
