Title: Truth Behind the Ink and Scars © Sir LiraFox | LIRAFOX Legacy
I was taught to flinch from the ones with ink Said the scars meant danger, never told me to think That maybe pain ain’t evil, it’s just proof they lived And every tear they shed was another love they give
They told me "fear the broken," but they the ones who heal The loud ones you call angry the first to kneel When a child’s in need, they don’t need a reason They show up rain or shine like loyalty’s in season
It was never the collars blue or the doors they knock With their pressed white shirts and that plastic talk Preaching light while their eyes look dark Stalking families like a Sunday mark
The ones I was warned of held me like blood Cooked meals from nothing but gave all they could They’d fight for a child like a lion pack Not for money or points just to give love back
Tatted arms full of meaning not violence Just memorials of pain and defiant silence They never judged my past or name Just asked me what I needed and stood through flame
It was backwards from the lesson they tried to teach The ones with the most had the furthest reach To manipulation masked in peace While the real ones bled for my soul’s release
They called it anger, I call it sacred rage When love gets mocked and locked in a cage Those so-called outcasts made me brave Showed me real ones ain't the ones who shave
Polished shoes don’t walk what they preach But the muddy boots knew every breach Took my daughters in with tears and bread While those little priests kept feeding feds
So here’s my word, my righteous plea To every child who looks like me Don’t trust the script, go feel the vibe The "monsters" might be the ones who keep you alive
Family ain't always blood, but you can see The Ms on our palms and the loyalty tree Cut from the same cloth, divine through pain They loved me harder, they...

I love visiting Julie's Coffee & Tea Garden, and it's always a delightful experience. This cozy café is located in a cute historic house, giving it a charming and inviting atmosphere. There is an open back patio, which is a hidden gem, and once inside can be accessed by walking down a short corridor.
As a coffee lover, I have to say the lattes are top-notch. The baristas are skilled in creating a variety of different drinks, and my go-to is the dirty chai, which has a rich and bold flavor. They also have a great selection of loose-leaf teas, which I've heard are tasty too.
The pastries are also quite delicious and typically made fresh daily. My favorite is the scone and Devonshire cream, which I always make sure to ask to be warmed. The sandwiches are very tasty, with a variety of options including vegetarian and gluten-free options. The grilled cheese is particularly tasty with aged white cheddar melted between two slices of buttered sour-wheat bread! If you're looking for something homier and breakfast oriented I also recommend the baked eggs, which typically have a seasonal vegetable as a main ingredient.
The service at Julie's is friendly and attentive. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and happy to make recommendations.
Overall, if you are visiting Alameda, or are a local, I highly recommend visiting Julie's Coffee & Tea Garden for breakfast and brunch. The café offers so much (including wine and alcoholic beverages) that I highly recommend this location for any casual meetup and gathering. Seating can be limited though. You won't be disappointed!

Read moreI usually come for a quick bite/drink and a long time ago came to study at Julie's. When I started looking for venues, I remembered how charming this little place was! I had a great experience with hosting a semi-private event in their garden for my sister's bridal shower. I had the ultimate vision in my mind and was able to execute it perfectly with Julie's! Their garden was already such a cute space that I was able to customize. Shannon their event coordinator was very flexible in offering me options to bring my idea to life. They offered various catering options with add-ons that would surely fit any event. The great thing is they have offerings for medium-large as well as small parties as well. We hosted 27 people and had half the garden to ourselves. We still felt like we had our own space and the service was great. Amazingly, all event details were all communicated via email. And in the day of, everything was exactly as we discussed. This is definitely a testament to the organization of their staff. They had the perfect afternoon tea menu to go with our event. Everyone raved about their garden, food, and experience. I would highly recommend julie's to anyone looking to host a small...
