Biscuits and gravy should always be at least one thing: filling. But even after one full serving of the Benny, I was left hungry. It’s true, I can be a big eater, especially when it comes to eggs and sardines. But I would say I eat only a fair bit above average, and this meal fell well below.
The classic biscuits and gravy usually has two biscuits, but as you may not notice from other reviewers’ photos, only one biscuit hides at the bottom, (too easily) obscured by the modest two eggs, sausage, and gravy.
I would be less disappointed if the price was not $16.80 (including a 20% tip). And I would be less disappointed if the single biscuit was actually the size of two biscuits. But even if it were, two biscuits are essential to maintain a proper crust to interior ratio to hold up to the gravy. This single biscuit didn’t even have a proper radius to it. It was rectangular, baked in a sheet so that it didn’t have a lick of crisp to its sides.
Overall, I would say Anchorage has a vacuum ready to be filled by an establishment that will serve simple, affordable biscuits and gravy. I look forward to this day. I have a feeling it’s...
Read moreI am beyond amazed by the food. I’ve lived in Anchorage for going on twenty years and this is the first time I have had a decent damn gravy (comparable to mine or any southern sausage gravy). Biscuit clubs sausage gravy was on point. I can safely go and eat gravy somewhere again in Anchorage.
I got and enjoyed The AK and my kids both had a Nuttin Compares (which they both ate like incredibly fast) which is saying something bc they are both neurodivergent and pretty damn picky.
I got it to go thought it felt comfy enough we could have eaten there I am sure. I drove about fifteen minutes to home and ate immediately. My food was still mostly hot, the food held up amazingly, especially the biscuits which don’t normally hold up well in to go orders. The packaging held up amazing. The portions were awesome.
The wait was I’d say acceptable for the quality and me not having called ahead.
The price, I thought was steep at first (at $22 for The AK), is actually super reasonable in retrospect. I mean I am FULL plus it was delicious.
10/10 easy and will recommend...
Read moreAs I was researching solid local eats in Anchorage for my Alaskan getaway, I stumbled upon Biscuit Club as an essential restaurant in Anchorage, per Eater's website. I was not disappointed! The restaurant's entrance is a smidge tricky, but if you know it's the shopping center with beautiful blue Alaskan mural outside, you'll find it in no time! The women working behind the counter were friendly and cheerful as they took my order. I ordered the Heartbreaker biscuit and a Chai. Seating is in the hallway right through the doors to the right of the counter, so I decided to dine in. Within 3-4 minutes, I had both drink and biscuit at my table. The biscuit is incredible. The Heartbreaker is a bit heavy with the meats, cheese and gravy, but if you've skipped breakfast, it's worth it! The chai was piping hot and the perfect balance of sweet and spice (versus the sweet leaning likes of Starby's). I was very impressed, and I'll probably drop back by before I leave Anchorage this week. You can bet I'll be back on my next Alaskan trip,...
