What a great find in Anchorage - we were having a celebration of life for my dad, who grew up in New York and loved cannoli. I reached out to a couple of places to see if there was any way to get an order of smaller finger food style cannoli for the event, and Timothy at Originale came through. When we toyed with the idea of making a cannoli style dip with cannoli chips (this can be found in grocery stores back east), Timothy was game to try it, but ultimately we went with a platter of the cannoli instead. They were presented beautifully, and everyone loved them. He even included a side of the filling and some fruit for my stepmom, who has Celiac Disease. Thrilled to find this place, and the other food looked great when I stopped in to pick up the order - will definitely have to stop by again the next...
Read moreI used to love this place and was happy to hear it was reopened. I ordered today from Door Dash (double the price as the restaurant - shameful and greedy) and was very disappointed. The potato salad was flavorless, dry and not the same. I loved the Originale spice and there was barely a sprinkle on my sandwich and potato salad. I ordered the Nonni - the arugula was on the outside of the sandwich and there was no truffle at all. The onion focaccia was terrible - instead of being baked in the bread, sautéed onions were slathered over the sandwich. My little lunch of a 1/2 sandwich and tablespoon of potato salad for $25 was not worth $5. What happened? Don't take short cuts to save time. The new owners need to remember Originale's recipes - consistency is best. Don't be greedy....

They construct all their sandwiches and pizzas with love and attention to proportions which I find very hard to find when it comes to making a sandwich. Their ingredients are fresh and authentic to Italy and the service matches that quality. They have a good selection of alcoholic beverages for an afternoon beer. Located in an unassuming space in downtown, it’s the perfect lunch spot and worth the fight for street parking to experience the goodness.
In addition to prepared food, they have a small deli providing those authentic ingredients I have failed to find anywhere else in Anchorage. This is a must go place. Thank you Originale for being just...
